If it feels hard to do this, try this:
Bring a small sketchbook with you everywhere.
Start drawing anything that interests you when you're just standing around, waiting in line, etc.
Draw out of curiosity, not the desire to make it look "good".
Do this as much as possible.

Do this as much as possible.
Don't make a big deal out of drawing.
Look at stuff you like. Draw that stuff. Practice whats hard by drawing it a lot.
Rinse and repeat.

Just feeling really grateful that I've been able to make art for a living these past 10 years
I don't think there are words to express my gratitude for the community I have, other than I love y'all
Thank you 💛

Okay artists, real talk: everyone else is waiting for Jan 1st to "start fresh."
But not you. You're about to start 2 months early and it's going to change your art. 🧵

⭐ TrueRef is looking to hire a Chicago area based carpenter/prop maker to build us a mechanical 360 spinning platform.
It'd be an ASAP deadline as I keep getting flaked out on and it's an absolute must have for TrueRef at this point.
DM me for more information!

Let others decide if they like your art.
Your job is to make it and share it with the world.
When you hide it from the world, no one gets the chance to choose for themselves and the only audience you’re left with is your fear and shame.

it's not skill that stops you from creating.
it's fear:
- fear of judgement
- fear of being vulnerable
- fear of failing
- fear of not feeling good enough
what's the thing you're most afraid people will see in your work? 👀

I needed this drilled into my head so I'm gonna share it here:
not every post or piece of art needs to be a huge, groundbreaking thing. there's value in the quiet moments. in the behind the scenes. in the small wins and losses. even in mixing paint.
its consistency that matters

if you want to draw but never have ideas, brainstorm a larger project to begin creating around.
build worlds.
design characters for a story.
use themes or challenges to guide you.
you will never run out of ideas or practice when you have a passion project.

overthinking is just too much creative energy with no where to go. redirect it into your work and you'll avoid the spirals that lead to self doubt.

my goal with teaching art has always been to be there for people as they take the first step into unknown territory; into a space where we're told it's not possible, not realistic, not practical.
it's my job to be by their side as they discover how capable they are. 🧵

30 minutes of art practice is better than 0
reduce your expectations for how long you 🧠THINK🧠 you need to do something, and just ✨DO IT✨ instead.
your confidence (and skills) will skyrocket when you do.
