Tip for inexperienced #ttrpg writers: Your book is going to be used many ways—for learning the system, as a reference at the table, just as a fun read, etc. It’s best when to cater to all of those uses.

I don’t know how this information can enter the system without exploding the bubble.

Inarguably Microsoft’s best system and firmly housed in any top-five-console conversations. My time with it was comparatively brief (about three years or so) but it was time well spent.

Great thread here, echoes a lot of my own sentiments on the matter.
I think my problem with that kind of, for lack of a precise term, [heckin wholesome smol bean positivity New Sincerity whimsey]-thing is that I find it fundamentally condescending. Like my preference of affectations or aesthetics makes me a bad person. Like melancholy is just a Bad Dumb Decision.

This is also why there were so many Buddha statues in Afghanistan (at one point home to the Graeco-Bactrian Kingdom and its Indo-Greek successors), some of which were detonated by the Taliban.

The tradition of making statues of the Buddha (as opposed to imprints of his feet) is also apparently something they got from Greek statuary of their gods.
"Greeks living in Afghanistan were Buddhist 500 years before China and a thousand years before Southeast Asia" is one of those things that sounds made up but is in fact true

Three episodes into The Mighty Nein adaptation with friends and it's been a blast. Really missed these characters, and all the improvements and little added details for this second show can be felt already. Looking forward to more.
