We should not be subsidising fossil fuels.

And it's a whopper of a subsidy: The fuel+capital+operating cost of LNG (via BCG "Energy to Grow" report) is $44/GJ, half of that capital+O&M costs, if its for dry-year cover only. So paying the fixed costs with a levy HALVES the LNG price... 1/-

I absolutely guarantee you that the below and Luxon announcing a gas terminal isn't a coincidence. Corrupt piece of shit #nzpol

$?????? millions on a liquefied natural gas terminal that cuts against the actual economics of natural gas instead of just paying for everyone to switch to fucking electricity is probably peak Luxonism. Bad economics, bad infrastructure, bad decision.

Because nothing screams “fresh and innovative” like an 80-year-old cooker.

FFS…if you want change, vote Green.
Pessimistic voters look to Winston Peters to be the change candidate inside the coalition
Analysis: For a man who claims little regard for the polls, the NZ First leader will surely be feeling more favourably toward their latest offerings.

The head of a party in our governing coalition called for us to leave the WHO yesterday and as far as I can see today, there's been absolutely zero critique of that by the press. Fucking fuckity fuck #nzpol

i had no time for people who voted ACT NAT NZF at the least election

now i think you're actively harming my whānau's future if you keep going with that level of stupid

You won't find it in any constitution or piece of legislation, but being the aide-and-comforter-in-chief during times of crisis is an absolute basement floor requirement of leadership. Managing your expectations is a healthy quality, but they should never get this low. #nzpol
At this point I'm honestly surprised at how little we've heard from the Government as thousands face weather-related emergencies and multiple people are missing, possibly deceased.

Like, I don't have high expectations, but this is still well below those.

So, has our PM said anything about the flooding and extreme weather events around the country yet? Or was it just about the election date and how he's "very proud" of the "work" he's done?

Ardern would never. #nzpol

He quite literally signed up for this job. There is general agreement that a country's leader has to HAVE THE WORDS when stuff happens! And if a leader doesn't have those words, they'd better take some advice and think fast and come up with some! What has this idiot done? Lurked on Waiheke

#nzpol The Prime Minister spent longer managing his Spotify Playlists than writing that speech. Nothing new, nothing to help manage growing unemployment, more cuts signalled to government investment. That wasn't a State of the Nation - it was asking people to forget the past two years.

A fraction of this would actually fix our quite fucked rail network, upgrade our passenger and freight ports, and massively reduce the number of trucks on NZ roads - reducing the need to repair and replace them. Hell, we could even throw in some transit to city for all our international airports.
The Government’s transport plans for the coming 20 years will cost more than a quarter of a trillion dollars, the Transport Ministry says.
