I regularly see people wondering how it's possible that there are so many musicians and writers and film makers and artists from a tiny nation like Iceland.

And the answer is really simple: State funding for art education and artists. I literally get a salary from the government to write books.
I’m constantly astounded at the sheer level of artistic production coming out of Iceland. Novels, movies, music. Amazing.

Yeah, nah.

Sorry, mate, but, along with everything else that’s wrong with this, you don’t get to use “United States” and “civilisation” in the same sentence.

We’ve seen what rich Americans have done to America.

Is that really who we want to import down here now?

There is patriotism and patridiotism.

“Nationalism is not to be confused with patriotism. Both words are normally used in so vague a way that any definition is liable to be challenged, but one must draw a distinction between them... "

I mean…the Bible doesn’t name Noah’s wife. So who knows?

Mind you, everyone of my age in England knows Noah’s wife’s name was Nelly. But the Patriarchs were famously polygamous, so I’m counting nothing out.
Good grief. Everyone knows they were just friends.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.
