Theophile De Bockstraat, Amsterdam in 1979 and today. A quiet road these days but the cycleway provides a direct cycle route between two large busy parks, whilst also now closing some roads to through motor traffic, reducing local neighbourhood motor traffic levels

Alexandria & Richmond, Virginia have both implemented free bus service, as Mamdani has proposed.

They have also succeeded in increasing ridership—as of latest data, their ridership in 2025 is 31% & 25% higher than in 2019, respectively.

Overall US transit ridership is 20% lower in 2025 than 2019.
Abigail Spanberger takes a swipe at Mamdani, saying "maybe he should be a Democrat" and that his campaign promises are dishonest.

Still haven’t seen a video of neighbors cheering an abduction, still haven’t seen reports of a neighbor pointing out a hiding migrant to ICE/Border Patrol

The only people praising the ICE/Border Patrol terror patrols & kidnappings are people who live nowhere near where they’re happening.

Weirdly its legal for RESTAURANTS and other retailers who don't accept SNAP to give discounts to SNAP recipients, but illegal for grocery stores than normally accept SNAP to do so.
These Chicago restaurants are offering free or discounted meals during SNAP pause: blockclubchi.co/47DM5Ys

This clip is a perfect example of all those "little things" in a Dutch protected intersection that were not correctly implemented here.

1. There's a permissive left (flashing yellow arrow) when it should be RED when the bikes have a green. (Should be sensors to respond to present traffic.)

This an example of bad infrastructure.

With half of bike lanes being on the inside of parked cars and half being on the outside, and the only difference being some subtle paint, genuine confusion is totally understandable here.
Bicyclists: It's getting darker earlier and the days are getting shorter. Keep those bike lights charged up and pack your reflective gear.

Drivers: please be good humans and stop endangering bicyclists.

anyhoo. report bike lane obstructions like this to our app

To put a finer point on it:
• Lots of working-class folks live in 🟢🏘️
• There are lots of jobs in 🟡🏭
• We’ve already built 🔵🚆
• But we’re missing 🔴🛤️
• So those workers have to drive on ⚫️🛣️
• Therefore we should #BuildTheTunnel 🔴🚇

This is kind of misleading; it's an artifact of Amazon being one of the largest employers period. In most states, less than 1% of SNAP recipients are Amazon employees.

Above Amazon on this list is Walmart, Safeway, Uber, McDonalds. UPS, Fedex on there too. It's just a list of large employers.
A 2020 study found that Amazon—which shares owner Jeff Bezos with The Washington Post—is one of the largest employers of people on SNAP.
As SNAP funds froze, mayors and governors have pledged to supplement the missing federal assistance, while federal judges ruled Friday that the Trump administration should use contingency funds to keep food aid running despite the government shutdown.

seeing this image used as an argument against driverless cars is hilarious considering the fact that we don't hold human drivers accountable for killing people unless they're exceedingly reckless (drunk, speeding, texting, etc.)
