I run a produce store, a florist, a wine shop, and mostly post about bike lanes.

Shit like this is why I’m not *that* worried about the (new) AI misinformation problem.

Misattributed real footage, and more traditionally manipulated photos, are already a problem.
This video, viewed over 600,000 times, claims to show US troops landing in Caracas to capture Maduro.

The video is from June 2025, showing US Special Forces preparing for the army's 250th anniversary parade.

The original 47th street Illinois Central station. Much less grand than Hyde Parks station at 57th, but not bad. So suburban looking.

Love to kick start my 10x cost rail project to the least dense part of town by expanding a parking lot.

🟡 NEW: The New York Times and Washington Post learned of a secret US raid on Venezuela soon before it was scheduled to begin Friday night — but held off publishing what they knew to avoid endangering US troops.

I beg Americans to imagine an EU strike force -- stop laughing! -- abducts Trump only, and the next day Brussels is talking about how JD Vance will have to comply and an A350 full of CEOs from windmill, non-GMO cheese, and metric ruler firms is headed for Manhattan to discuss terms
And there ya have it…

Officials from top Wall Street firms will be traveling to Venezuela to investigate “investment prospects” of the country. “The trip will feature about 20 officials from the finance, energy and defense sectors.”

Hamburg Hochbahn AG (Ubahn and buses in Hamburg) spends 669 million euros a year to move 421 million trips. Or about 1.5€ per trip.

The CTA spends 2.23 billion dollars to move about 365 million trips a year. Or about $6.10per trip.

Why does it cost 3x to run an American agency of similar size?

A textbook of bad street design:

✅ Curbside bus lanes, which never work

✅ Right turners can block bus lane

✅ Bikes and buses, which move at different speeds, share one lane

✅ Narrow sidewalk blocked by trees and posts.
I found this street diagram for a project in Las Vegas and damn its perfect for Aurora Avenue here in Seattle

Switzerland normally has 17 or 18 fire deaths a year, so 40 dying in one event is going to dramatically increase their numbers for 2026. So much so that they are likely going to end up at about 25% fewer fire deaths per capita than the US compared to their usual 80% fewer. ctif.org/sites/defaul...
40 people in a small country is going to have a substantial per-capita impact.
