Every photo from Minneapolis looks like this. Cops decked out with guns and full tac gear facing off against people in bathrobes, parkas, and sweatpants armed only with whistles and cell phones.

Yet every verified MAGA chode on X dutifully calls it a riot or violent insurrection.

Amen
I’d like to see the Dems offer a bill to fund FEMA, the Coast Guard and other DHS sub agencies and then just say we’re shutting down ICE until we know what the Hell is going on and see some accountability and real guardrails. It’d be good politics.

Fuentes then fantasizes about “breeding gulags”: “So just like Hitler imprisoned Gypsies, Jews, communists, you know, all of his political rivals, we have to do the same thing with women… They go to the breeding gulags. The good ones will be liberated. The bad ones will toil in the mines forever.”

Really, people wrote books about this. Some said morality demands *even more* torture. Some liberals said it too.

People who maintained that torture is immoral and against US law and int'l obligations got called "anti-torture absolutists," willing to let innocents die for our principles.
I'm old enough to remember when I "couldn't have a reasonable discussion about torture" and now we're running 100 Camp X-Rays for children in warehouses around the US.

One thing I think the Writers Guild really got right in our last negotiation was asking "Even if the tech doesn't work, how could they use it to pay us less?"
10 years ago they told us AI and self-driving cars were going to wipe out up to half of all jobs. They didn’t.

But while everyone was talking about whether they would, companies rolled out algorithmic management and used digital tech as a pretext to reclassify workers as contractors.
I'm not even saying that's the most *likely* possibility, but it's just very clear that the likelihood of that outcome as increased and even if there's, like, a 1 in 10 change that "AI replaces most to all white collar jobs in 10 years" that's an *enormous* risk to the social order!
