ICE agents chased a family into their home, tried to kick the door in, and forced them to barricade inside. Then, one agent dangled their house keys in front of their Ring camera.

Incredibly disturbing to watch these agents’ unhinged behavior and the psychological terror they’re inflicting.

Ballymena… I’ve seen a lot of pals frustrated at Republican commentary implying that this racism is a loyalist problem. but it’s complex right?

is there racism bound up in Irish nationalism? fuck yes.

but it it irrelevant to this situation that Ballymena is a prod hole, a squaddie town? fuck no.

Baroness Faulkner responds to the WEC, on the subject of trans people’s right to privacy: “we don’t think Article 8 rights apply… and we’ve taken legal advice to that effect.”

she doesn’t think article 8 rights apply to trans people.

who gave her this legal advice? I wonder.

One argument the Supreme Court made in FWS was that sex had to have a trans-exclusionary definition or else trans men who give birth would lack protection. Here's what the Health and Safety Executive has to say on the matter, in guidance last updated on 10th March, one month before the FWS decision:

come on all you former corbynites. I remember talking to you then about how if it didn’t work, you’d just come back to grassroots organising. what is all this labour betrayal crap? you tried, it didn’t work, there was a massive disciplinary response we’re all dealing with. antifascism again please

My trans child (adult) and their girlfriend (also trans) have just been threatened by a man carrying a gun in his waistband outside their local pub. Police have been called, but they’re understandably terrified and upset. This is not ok.

this is probably super obvious but bears repeating loudly and often: if you’re a trans worker in the UK, you need to join a union STAT.

the workplace is where a lot of the pressure from the Supreme Court ruling is going to hit hardest and first.

The ruling, as I understand it, did not say that trans women cannot use women's toilets as such. It said it is lawful to exclude us. Which sucks but the difference matters. If organisations discriminate against us it's a decision they are making, not something they've been forced into.
Bridget Phillipson here, confirming that the government’s position is that trans women must always use men’s bathrooms when out in public.

@nadiawhittomemp.bsky.social you’re my MP. why are you a member of this vile institution?
1/ Bridget Phillipson, Labour’s Education Secretary and Minister for Women & Equalities, just said on live TV that trans women should be made to use male toilets. This is the Labour Party. Disgusting. Trans rights are human rights.

those who know:

steal the email sign up sheets or spoil them if you can (a cup of coffee works great)

challenge the paper sellers: why are you here profiting off trans people’s pain?
reminder for UK people protesting today - do not accept a sign from the Socialist Worker's Party and certainly don't wave one around unless you remove their branding first

the last few days has been a reminder that people really want to believe that not only is there this real thing called a “criminal,” and that if they need to, anyone can just prove they aren’t one
do people not realize that the past four decades of US policing legislation PR and practice have made the allegation that someone is a “gang member” entirely subject to the whims of the state

sorry to do this but I don’t think Jess O’Thompson is right about this ruling completely removing the requirement for sex restrictions to take place ONLY as a proportionate means to achieve a legitimate aim

please don’t panic
