Most professions think everyone else in their field is an idiot. Every nurse has a story about a doctor who nearly killed a patient. Every plumber says the last plumber you got in broke your pipes. Every lawyer thinks other lawyers can’t read. Most notable exceptions are cops and elite journos

Sadly, most of the replies to this are either manifestos or just nice which I feel misses the point.

We should be transgressive and queer and enjoy that.

Free speech isn't just BBC anchor 6475's right to complain about pronouns for the 93rd time. It can also mean people saying interesting things.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

The reason why American protest movements keep failing is that they treat “protest” as an end in and of itself, rather than a means of doing anything material. If the powers that be can neutralize your protest by literally ignoring it then what is even the point.

I don't know if this is woke exactly but mine is, the renter economy has gone too far to be redeemed by house building and at some stage we're just going to have to transfer ownership of housing to the people that actually live there without compensation.

Remember the first few months after the Supreme Court ruling when gender critical and everyone else acted like trans people would simply go away now. The great push to describe it as a compromise. I feel like we don't see quite that level of confidence anymore

I organise EIAs for a living. You do policy, you do an EIA. It's the first thing an FoI request would ask for. If it's a trans thing you don't fuck around because there's a cottage industry in asking for FoIs on this stuff.

This is insane to me.
FOI reveals the EHRC couldn’t even be bothered to finish an impact assessment for their new code of practice. When Bridget Phillipson asked for it on 8 October, all they managed to hand over was an unfinished “working draft”. 1/

Emily Maitlis brags about her, Deb Cohen, and Hannah Barnes getting the Tavistock GIDS service shut down.

What she doesn't talk about is how Newsnight journalists manufactured outrage and concocted "scandals" based on unethical journalism - which they were called out for, but tried to hide...

If the right really wants free speech in universities, why is it so obsessed with discrediting students? | Jason Okundaye
The media loves to manufacture outrage about what students get up to – and to discipline those who dare challenge conservatives, says Jason Okundaye, a Guardian assistant newsletter editor

Anti-trans policies have never made sense or been based on logic.
