This is the reality. The British state MILKS immigrants ruthlessly for money. Thousands and thousands of pounds. And then declares they're all dangerous spongers.
I’ll have been in country for ten years in August, & should have been eligible for ILR, then citizenship the day after we get married in November. I have paid in the range of £15k in visa fees since arriving, and have been in work nonstop, paying tax.

This fascist dumbass is stealing that.
Er, hello, yes, sorry, hello, we just wanted to remind you that as well as being soft on child abuse and massively corrupt, we’re also extremely racist

Kiddies who made it out of the ICE dungeon report sighting a schoolmate. Before this, the school district had no information on their whereabouts. The family has now been connected with a lawyer.

Youngsters who escape a govt dungeon are the only way to track abducted children? This is fine!
The two children who returned to MN today say they saw one of their Valley View schoolmates at a detention center in TX. This is a child whose family was last in contact with the school on January 9. No one has known where they were until now.

5 years is not "quite short". those 5 years cost us about fourteen grand, three horrendously stressful applications, and (for example) a full half decade where nobody would offer us a mortgage because my wife only had temporary residency, so we had to keep paying a fortune in rent instead
The Home Secretary several times says she thinks 5 years is "quite short" and "quite quick".

Views differ - but the BSA finds that the general public tend to see 5 years as fair: over 80% of people tend to think 5 years is fair

Take the time to do this folks. The proposed changes to ILR are shocking and cruel, which is made abundantly clear in the text of the public consultation linked below. Please lend your voice to try to mitigate the cruelty.
PS. Not too late to tell the government what you think about their proposed changes to Indefinite Leave to Remain - the public consultation is open until 12th Feb.

Is this how the British Musuem wants to be seen to be treating PhD Students?

This is very detailed and technical, but TLDR, Kant is bringing the receipts of the insane size of the organized anti-trans news campaign and how Google and other search engines were gamed into service.
Just started doing new data analysis and I know I keep saying this, but: I really, really don't think people appreciate how much this moral panic was a deliberate and extremely expensive invention.

tremendous thread, enjoying this
A few days ago, I stood in the graveyard of an 1100 year old church, getting damper and damper in the drizzling rain.

A woman walked into the graveyard, waved, said hello, and, as we had previously arranged, handed me a paper bag full of human bones.

The life of a churchwarden is a strange one...
