baseball is for everyone

I guess what I’m getting at is we can all take this game too seriously. It is just a game, it is just here to tell us a story and make us feel something, and this World Series delivered narratively in a way that was so endlessly odd and entertaining. 10/10.

A lot of education discourse is at root an inability to decide whether the purpose of our education system is to 1) teach material and measure learning 2) reward students who work hard 3) separate the smart kids (destined for smart guy jobs) from the dumb kids (destined to serve the smart guys)

Really good example of inflation: we reduced our natural gas by 15% compared to a year ago. Our actual bill went up instead.

you could fact check this — there aren’t 30 million illegal immigrants and there is no evidence that the presence of an immigrant in say houston has any impact on housing in madison, wisconsin — or you could note straightforwardly that this is just nazi rhetoric
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

Right, these are the two options: Either they tolerated Epstein's eugenics to get to the sex crimes or they tolerated his sex crimes to get to the eugenics
It seems like all of the rich and powerful people around him patronizingly tolerated the race science stuff (“he has such an inquisitive and childlike mind”) in order to get access to his harem of underage sex slaves
The Epstein stuff is always so amazing to me because it's like "yes he was a sex criminal but if you can get past that, he was also an avowed eugenicist"

Honestly, one of the things that's most shocked me about the last 10 years is the revelation of how many highly-educated elite white men who self-identify as moderates, liberals, and/or Democrats, still seem to be 100% on board with race science and masculine superiority.
How dare you imply that our friendship was based on leering at teenage girls, it was based on sorting races into C, B, A and S tiers

Can someone please tell baseball social media when awards are voted on because the response to Vogt winning MOY has exposed a real weak spot

This whole thing is devastating and the thing I’m afraid so many people won’t get is that to those of us who are really critical of sports betting, *all* of it looks a little like this. Like a compulsion with a totally disproportionate risk/reward ratio. There is zero upside for our society there.
So the prop bet thing wouldn't be right if these Cleveland relievers were paid more money for those balls but uh. Really? A few thousand bucks here and there and you're willing to risk it all? Clase was earning $4.9 million in 2025 before the leave, do some math there guys.

I know this is an unpopular take but my dudes you are not speaking truth to power with these angry comments, you're speaking truth to Katelyn, who hasn't made herself a meal at home since January and makes so much less money than you can imagine

Unequivocally the most insane thing anyone has ever done on a baseball field. I will
not be taking questions on the matter
imagine your starting pitcher throwing 6 scoreless innings and striking out 10 batters and also doing this in the same game

listen Cal Raleigh is an incredible talent but we really need to get a handle on the fact that defensively he doesn’t even compare well against *other catchers* (and while no defensive metric is going to tell you everything, if FRV and DRS are on the same page, that’s a strong indicator)

You can only do this if there is something deeply, deeply broken inside you, and unfortunately there is no nuance to be found there. If you are in favor of kids going hungry in any context when they absolutely did not have to, something is so very wrong with you
They're going to the highest court in the land to avoid feeding children.

I'm hard-pressed to think of a non-Jewish Democratic politician who has spoken to Jews with more respect and empathy than Mamdani. The fact that many Jewish establishment orgs are going after him while staying relatively mum on resurgent Nazism is a disaster, both for American Jews and in general.

I don’t mean to be insensitive but is there a reason we’re drawing a distinction between public appearances (that are basically all speaking engagements) and interviews? Because within days of her husband dying she was out here trying to grift off of it.

someone please explain to me why some baseball fans believe that a salary/payroll floor can ONLY exist if there is also a cap. That is legitimately a take I keep seeing. “The owners are unlikely to accept a floor without a cap” is not the same as those two things going together, they do not
