HUGE news! This is about a Trump admin effort to arrest thousands of screened and vetted refugees in Minnesota and fly them to Texas to be jailed and then interrogated.

After the interrogation is over, people are being dumped on the street and told to find their own way back.

This is why I have real fucking problem with blithe criticisms of "polarization" or "congressional dysfunction." We have a Republican member blaming his colleague for being attacked.

The problem isn't polarization or dysfunction. It's the Republican Party.

My prediction is that ice will manage to go another 10 days without an incident bad enough to break through to the general public, people will start to think that things are settling down again, and then they'll pop another protester.

Barely more than a week now

I really hope this doesn't get lost in the noise. I think we all need something that can restore our faith in the common cause of humanity.

I'm on my hands and knees begging my fellow young people to go out and physically meet people instead of relying on corporations with every incentive to ensure you never actually find a partner.

You probably could have going on several dates in the time it took to collect & collate this data
I see a lot of visualizations of one year of a person's online dating (a 21M from London in this case). Seems miserable. Is getting drunk in a bar or club making a comeback as a dating strategy? Source: buff.ly/ZvAbOdz

The clock could have struck 12 on the Trump era on February 13, 2021 if Lindsey & a few others had voted to convict but
Lindsey Graham: "When this clock strikes 12 on the Trump era, there will be a few people walking out the door with Donald Trump. Stephen Miller will be in that group. I want everybody to know on the Republican side."

NEW: House Democratic Leaders Jeffries, Clark and Aguilar say in a joint statement, "Kristi Noem should be fired immediately, or we will commence impeachment proceedings in the House of Representatives."

"We can do this the easy way or the hard way."

I'm torn between my knowledge that these are a big get for minority party and the fact that Trump has shown zero interest in actually following the law and there's no reason to think that he will make ice do any of this.
Dems coalescing around 5 restrictions on ICE, I'm told:

DHS required to cooperate with state probes (big)
CBP stays at border
warrants for arrests
IDs, bodycams
ICE out of churches, schools

"That package unites a lot of Dems," Sen Chris Murphy tells me on the pod:

A Dem Senator’s Harsh Takedown of Trump Hits Home: “Breaking Point”
As Trump scrambles to contain the damage from the latest ICE horrors, Senator Chris Murphy offers a sharp indictment of Trump-ICE lawlessness—and explains how Dems can meet the urgency of the moment.

Honestly it's fascinating the extent to which woke 2 has just eventuated in the span of like, 20 hours.

Hard to tell if it's executives finally deciding they can shave this fuck, or if the PMC pressure on the c-suite finally pushed them over the edge.

Bovino is still wild to me as the most nailed on “tertiary antagonist” looking dude I have ever seen. This man is central casting for “imperial officer” in any sci fi. He is 100% the guy here to make sure the village pays its share of the tribute.

Here's a regular white guy (literally "Chad") not a protester. because, "It seemed pointless, or just a way for people to expiate their sense of guilt." Chad witnessed something shattering. And, that all changed in a moment.

Excellent article!

It’s a great feature that will force you to be more conscious of including alt text!
Folks I know it takes a little extra time and there's a lot going on, but please try to use alt text. It's hard if you're otg but otherwise just do it.

It's not just about your one post, it's about creating and sustaining a culture of accessibility.

John Roberts struck down the ACA’s Medicaid expansion as a 10A violation because the law was, as he called it, a “gun to the head” of the states who did not want to help their residents.

Now Trump’s putting *literal* guns to the heads of Minnesota’s residents to force their gov’t to betray them.
Carter turns to the voter roll demand, which they lost in the courts.

Per Carter, the government responds: "We don't care. We're going to put violence and chaos in the streets and we're going to force it with illegal conduct."

"If THAT doesn't violate the 10th Amendment...."

As a professional political organizer: literally none of our work would be possible without the women who volunteer for us.

The Democratic political machine is built on the backs of older, educated, women.
these right wing clowns continuing to express absolute shock over the organizing of the left also reflects a deeply sexist ignorance of the fact that EXPERIENCED, INCREDIBLY EFFICIENT AND HARDWORKING VOLUNTEERS, PRIMARILY WOMEN, RUN THE FUCKING SHOW WITH ALMOST EVERYTHING GOOD IN THIS COUNTRY
I mostly just stay off Twitter altogether but after double checking that the Walter Hudson post was still up I ran across this and just had to share so the Romancelandians who bought hand warmers could hear about the PROFESSIONAL GRADE LOGISTICS.

Its under discussed how unlike George Floyd the aggressors here are the feds themselves.

For as much as federal officials were fucked up, at the end of the day there's a big difference between the antagonist being generic 'law enforcement' and the feds themselves being public enemy #1

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

Not even 'both sides' here - the crucial bit is removed out from the parents' statement (giving the false impression that they did not rebut the administration's lies), while the administration's lie is presented without rebuttal. Truly appalling stuff.
