SecDef announcing another (9th) lethal strike, again in the Pacific against an unspecified "designated terrorist organization."

Claims these "DTOs are the 'Al Qaeda' of our hemisphere.

Nope.

No AUMF.

No armed conflict.

Just more lawless premeditated killing.

Everything about @sarahkendzior.bsky.social’s writing is exceptional. I just wish she wasn’t right all the time.
In 2005, I wrote an article called "Inventing Akromiya" about how the government of Uzbekistan made up a group called Akromiya to justify a massacre of civilian protesters.

Twenty years later, the US is more like Uzbekistan, and I wrote "Inventing Antifa": sarahkendzior.substack.com/p/inventing-...

In 2005, the Uzbek government invented a group called “Akromiya” to justify massacring protesters. Now I worry the US government will do the same.

🚨 NEW: Trump's biggest lesson from his first term?

He left money on the table.

He's returned to the White House with three new ways—all easier and faster than booking a hotel room—for allies, favor-seekers and foreigners to funnel money to the US president.

Sure, your health insurance premiums are going up, food is unaffordable, and the housing crisis is still in full swing, but at least you're being protected from the menace of random boaters south of the equator
Breaking news: U.S. forces killed two people allegedly hauling illicit drugs in the eastern Pacific Ocean off the coast of South America, officials said, marking an expansion of the Trump administration’s deadly counternarcotics campaign.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the strike but, consistent with others, declined to identify the victims or offer evidence verifying they were hauling narcotics.

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.

Can we discuss for a moment what an incredible abuse of the office of President it is to sue any entity for defamation while one is in office?

An act of transparent extortion.

He must be removed from office.
He’s not even pretending to have an actual defamation claim. He’s just mad they didn’t endorse him, to the tune of $15 billion.

The dude texted "I'm going to shoot protestors", then went and shot a Black Lives Matter protester. He was convicted in a jury trial.

Hard to find a more blatant example of celebrating political violence.
