This is, in my opinion, not only the correct moral/ethical/legal position but also the correct political framing. Everyone can see the agency is out of control; everyone can see that it is constantly violating human rights. "Scrap it and start over" is the moderate position.
Mamdani: "I am in support of abolishing ICE. What we see is an entity that has no interest in fulfilling its stated reason to exist. We're seeing a government agency that is supposed to be enforcing some kind of immigration law, but instead what it's doing is terrorizing people."

The problem was not labeling Trump correctly as a fascist. The problem was not treating him as one. They still aren’t! That creates a gap where you’re warning people that things are on fire, but instead of evacuating or getting water, you’re casually sitting down with a cup of tea.
You want to know why Chuck Schumer is talking about affordability & not Trump being a fascist? It's because we already tried talking about him being a fascist *& everyone ignored us*.

Opened up a short story that got a whole parade of rejections last year, thinking I'd polish it and maybe put it on Patreon in a few months. As I read it, I got more and more indignant that nobody accepted it because damn it's a good one. So now I'm figuring out who's left to submit it to.

I think the most fascinating phenomenon of our current political climate is how often cops have raised hell over batista drawing or writing "pig" on their coffee cups, only for it to then revealed, every time and without fail, that the cop did it himself. Genuinely has anyone studied this behavior?
