If you don't understand that a civilization can't survive systematic degradation of information like this, you are no friend of mine. Not "by" Christina Perri in "2019," for fuck's sake. By Louisiana governor Jimmy Davis, in 1940. Seriously: this shit is death to culture and knowledge. A bludgeon.

News outlets like @wsj.com have a critical responsibility to report the truth.

Promoting false information that ties our LGBTQ+ community to the Utah shooting is reckless, irresponsible, and puts trans people especially in danger.

Anyone with a platform must do better. Lives are on the line.

If I don't see multiple ~media reporters~ columns about the extraordinarily irresponsible Wall Street Journal report from yesterday morning — and their extensive promotion of that inflammatory report — you all should just pack up and go home.

The big problem is that a large swath of America had never heard of Kirk until yesterday. Every piece in major media about him is an introduction for many, and so conferring the sense of sainthood on him in the long run creates permission for the dangerous response I fear is coming.

For those praising Charlie Kirk, ask them if they agree with Kirk when he said the Civil Rights Act was a huge mistake, MLK was an awful person, Palestine doesn't exist, women's place is under their husband, and that the white supremacist "replacement theory" is real.

I'd love to hear the answers.

“Secret police” are your words, not mine. Seems like you’ve been giving them a lot of thought.

Unlike NYPD, your agents don’t identify themselves & wear masks that cover their faces. Now they ignore judges’ rulings, too.

What law enforcement agents are supposed to uphold … is the rule of law.

There are 50,000 undocumented Irish in the USA.

There are no plans to move any of them into FLA concentration camps or El Salvador torture gulags.

And everyone knows why.
There are actually quite a few undocumented Russians in the US.

Anyone have any videos of ICE forcefully deporting them?

Or just the brown people?

The thing about the Times is when you look like mamdani you are not owed any privacy even as a teenager while filling a confidential form for college but if you look like Jordan Lasker your identity must be protected even as a grown man while sharing stolen data for the purpose of neonazi propaganda

Would it surprise you that the freelancer who co-authored the piece granting a scientific racist anonymity to smear Zohran Mamdani with hacked materials spends a lot of his usual time and energy going after trans reporters and trans healthcare like Jesse Singal 2.0

it’s absurd that NYT forced him to delete these skeets, which … convey the factual information that Zohran Mamdani is, in fact, a man of South Asian descent who was born and raised in Africa, and that the pseudonymous source of the hacked material is a white supremacist eugenicist.

It’s a terrible bill. It will literally kill people. The most vulnerable among us will suffer as the wealthiest benefit. It’s perverse. I wish there were something I could do. But alas, I am only a U.S. Senator from Alaska whose “no” vote would kill the bill. So I voted yes. You get it.
