Folks need to decide if they want maximum stove-touching or if they want Democrats to save the public from Republican policies. You can't have both.

Tired of the cope that Trump is an awful candidate. He's such a terrifyingly effective candidate that the public completely memory holed his first term so they could give him the benefit of the doubt. Who were you gonna believe, him or your lying memory? If you even did keep brain records of 2020

he literally had a legitimate challenge from Nikki Haley in the primary. she's extremely generic GOP! And she was crushed, of course, but by margins that suggest she's a decent contender in a world where trump died pre-2022
If a generic Republican would have beaten him so handily, why didn’t they?

The author of How Fascism Works and Erasing History: How Fascists Rewrite the Past to Control the Future is clear: He believes the US is currently under an authoritarian regime led by a fascist leader.

I study fascism. I’ve already fled America.
On this week’s “More To The Story,” former Yale philosophy professor Jason Stanley explains his recent move to Canada and calls the Trump administration’s takeover of the US government a “coup.”

It’s very funny to watch Ross Douthat reinvent deliverism from first principals a year after the electorate overwhelmingly rejected it in favor of a guy promising revenge on his enemies
This right here, this exact sentence, is THE problem in American political journalism.
The IRA *was* cheap energy and good jobs! That was the whole bill! Democrats did precisely what political pundits are telling them to do and the pundits just ignore it.

This is why that Chimpanzee hung itself
The existence of this photograph (which is a real photo of a real person at a Mamdani campaign event) is enough to establish for me that voters writ large have absolutely no grasp of what policy is or how any given policy impacts their lives. It's all vibes.

I jump into the moderation debate. I agree with @adambonica.bsky.social and @gelliottmorris.com on the methodology, but I want to draw attention to a bigger issue. The collapse of candidate effects generally.

It’s pretty stunning to hear someone’s former campaign manager say “He has no qualification whatsoever to run for this seat,” for a lot of reasons.
Platner’s actions are an embarrassment to our state on the national stage. He has no qualification whatsoever to run for this seat and a US Senate race is not the place to grow up.

GOP closing arguments were:
1.) Haitians are eating your cats
2.) Puerto Rico is a shithole
3.) Peanut the squirrel will be avenged
Naturally, the media accused Kamala of being light on policy.

trump just stood on stage and swayed for 45 minutes. he was probably having a medical emergency in front of a half empty arena, and just… nobody said anything about it. i think there might be more to the story, other than kamala wasn’t pro israel enough lol

the democratic party’s basic problem is it has almost no control over how its message reaches the ears of voters, especially outside of presidential election years. but rather than devote serious time, attention and cash to that problem its consultants and pundits want to fight factional battles
