the magic of the Muppets is that there are two fourth walls. they constantly break the one that reminds the audience they are performers. they NEVER break the one that reminds the audience they are puppets. this dynamic is the key to their entire comedy style
MY KIDS: so why are there muppets in the AUDIENCE

ME: THE CONCEIT!! IS THAT THEY'RE PUTTING ON A VARIETY SHOW!!! IN A WORLD WHERE MUPPET AND HUMAN COEXIST!!! YOU ARE WATCHING A DOCUMENTARY!! FILMED!! IN REAL TIME!!!

I stand with County Executive Calvin Ball as he signs emergency legislation today prohibiting privately owned buildings from being used as ICE detention centers.

Howard County chose dignity, accountability, and its people. Tune into our event now:

production of The Muppet Show should not be dependent on petty vulgarities like “ratings” or “revenue.” it should be preserved as a vital function of american culture. it should have a taxpayer-funded budget rivaling the CIA

"everybody wang chung tonight" is on at the spot I'm grabbing lunch, and it has me wondering:

Would the present participle form of "Wang chung" be, "Wang chunging" or "wanging chung"?

I think it’s weird we’ve never seen Jason Mantzoukas and Animal from the Muppets together. And I don’t mean in TV shows or movies, necessarily. I just mean, like, hanging out, having lunch, in paparazzi photos and such.

"no human is illegal on stolen land" is a stupid slogan because of the stolen land part. indigenous peoples, whatever that means, also don't have a right to deny the legal protections of citizenship to foreigners

The audio was leaked like literally as soon as the meeting ended
During Bari Weiss's employee town hall at CBS News today, Gayle King gave a passionate speech, rallying the troops and criticizing leakers: "I'll be curious to see how long it takes for this to get out. 'Cause it'll be somebody in this room." w/ Mike Grynbaum

It's fine to order food in bad weather if you tip heavy. Delivery guys still need to make money in bad weather
Rode the elevator yesterday with a DoorDasher delivering a paper bag of Taco Bell and. Listen. I am devoted to Taco Bell. But it is 20° and the streets are snow walled and you have this man fully risking death so you can reheat a thirty-four-dollar six-dollar crunchwrap in your microwave

these people seem like idiots

Deflecting your responsibility for perpetuating am unpopular agency seems like good politics to me!
Democrats may think they are softening the message when they say things like "Abolish Trump's ICE" but this is a mistake.

The qualifier of "Trump's" shows a deflection of Dem responsibility for perpetuating this agency and funding it.
