i am the parent of a child in pre-K and it is literally impossible for me to imagine speaking to my kid like this OR being so checked out as a parent that you don’t care about your kid‘s social skills

happy 100th birthday to Oma. she survived Auschwitz, came to this country speaking no English, made a life and a family in NYC. she is the toughest, most independent cookie I know. here she is on the left in the mid-50s; on the right, a few months ago with our favorite physicist.
