Mamdani is so, so good at this. By which I don’t mean “at politics “, though he is, but at using his office to make people’s lives better while reminding them what government can be.
"The number of downloads...surged by 529% after Mr. Mamdani’s news conference"

"there had been 3,000 people on a waiting list to access a limited number of e-book copies"

"2,000 people applied for a library card over the weekend, roughly twice as many as had applied by this time last year"

A win!
gifting this article because it made me laugh, which is hard to do in this context. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/26/n...

Now that Bluesky has enjoyed something for a full couple of hours of course it's time to go back into doom mode. "The Democrats will cave like they always do"? Guys, the Democrats *were* caving, until the people of Minnesota stopped them. It's not up to the Democrats anymore. That's the whole point.

Cannot repeat the Obama-era dodge of saying "we tortured some folks" and not holding accountable the torturers and especially the chain of command. You want to stop state-sanctioned crimes? Trials not words are the only way.
Bovino’s retirement needs to be a cage. His command environment yielded Renee Good’s death, Alex Pretti’s death & Julio Sosa-Celis’ shooting. Failure to prosecute Bovino & everyone else materially responsible for these atrocities will be understood by ICE, CBP, etc as a green light for the next ones

I'll repeat my ask to Democratic Senators here: don't vote for the DHS funding bill, yes. AND ALSO do not vote for another single thing in the United States Senate until the invasion and occupation of Minnesota ends. Don't vote to name a post office, dedicate a road, or even a procedural motion

Never a moment's peace, never a relaxed meal or vacation, never a night's sleep again. May every moment of that retirement be a hot coal down his throat & may we all carry tongs for the rest of our lives just in case we meet him
BREAKING Greg Bovino has been removed as Border Patrol "commander at large" and will return to El Centro Calif, where he is expected to retire soon. A stunning turnaround after Pretti killing. Bovino's traveling blue city crackdown is over www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

My husband didn't know, so I'll repeat it here: Border Czar isn't a real job. Tom Homan has a fake job with a fake title. It also means that he wasn't confirmed by anyone in Congress. (Trump tried to confirm Homan in 1.0 but he failed bc Homan was too corrupt even pre-cava bag.)

The officer who shot Alex worked for DHS for 8 years. The officer who shot Renee worked for DHS for over 10 years. Both are considered “highly trained.”

The problem isn’t "training." DHS was built to violate our rights and has been empowered to act with impunity. We must MELT ICE and dismantle DHS.

Former MLB OF Kole Calhoun speaks out. “What this administration is doing is blatantly racist…I’ve been silent because that is easy. I don’t care what side you’re on or who you voted for, this is wrong… Wake up! Speak out!”

This. 1000x. One isn't going to save you from the other. (As evinced by protestors, begging police to arrest Alex Pretti's murderer, on the spot, and getting tear gassed by those very same officers in the process.)
We have to defund ICE and the cops. I’m sorry. It can’t just stop with ICE. We gotta go all the way. 🤷🏾‍♀️
