Midwesterner. Skeptical, particularly of "economic anxiety." Trying to stay open-minded but generally, they are who we thought they were. Michigan fan.
Very disrespectful to Beck.

Alright, as one of my bugaboos is "all the economic data looks pretty good! We're on our way" and I'd like to see non-aggregated evidence that this is the case (e.g., big company is hiring 5,000 people) and see how things are going in non-AI, crypto, super-rich space, I'll track here.
This @cnn.com Chevy Chase doc is amazing. I knew he had musical talent, but I had no idea he was the original drummer for what became Steely Dan. And he is legit awesome at the piano. Even notorious musical snobs like Donald Fagen speak highly of him.

But man, what a prick.

I once saw Third Eye Blind open for Metallica, so the 2026 Orange Bowl halftime show is not the weirdest place I have seen them.

Lot of great ones, but this one introduced me to the concept of simplicity with maximum rock star charisma paired with an all-time great pop song.

It looks like such fun, and always brightens my day.

Not planning to do an overall year wrap up but do want to share some work on US strikes in Somalia over the year.

By our tracking (not yet updated for holiday strikes), it is the peak of the campaign and may surpass the peak of strikes in Pakistan.

With the new Avatar released, I came across an interview of Stephen Lang. A few Wikipedia dives later and holy crap, his family is impressive: his dad was a world-renowned philanthropist who won the Medal of Freedom and his daughter is New York's Inspector General.

The ball cap that the Penn State interim coach is wearing looks like it cost $10 and was part of a Little League team sponsorship from Adray’s Appliances.

Fits the grim, gray Pinstripe Bwol.

A Christmas present for middle-aged rockers: #vanhalen covering "You Can't Do That" by #beatles during a soundcheck.

At this rate, by the time Van Halen's average fan is required to take Social Security, we might finally have a proper live album from the vintage DLR era.

I love my state, but this weather is issue number 1 on why our population has stagnated these past twenty years.

Can I interested you in gray skies, just-below freezing temps, yet somehow the precipitation is (cold) rain and not snow?

Miserable stuff. #yesmichigan

With the new Avatar out, time to revisit a Top 10 all-time SNL video sketch.

Among the many, many great things about it, let’s give it up for the laugh track. Without it, this would be too heavy.

Re-upping this. The failure of balanced-to-a-fault liberals and centrists to recognize how the ground has shifted is one of many disasters we’re facing.

Man, I wish king of all media George Soros was real.

After what happened at the WaPo, if the basically all the on-air talent & top producers at 60 Minutes don't walk away ASAP (to preferably start their own thing on YouTube, Netflix, whatever), I will be very sad.

This was months in the making. Pelley, Stahl, etc have to be ready to move.

Q: A number of Republicans have denounced your statement on Rob Reiner. Do you stand by it?

TRUMP: Well, I wasn't a fan of his at all. He was a deranged person as far as Trump is concerned.

When I decided to watch the Castle Rock Entertainment filmography back at the top of 2024 it began as an excuse revisit the films of my favorite director Rob Reiner, but it soon evolved into an exploration of how his creative fingerprints covered the company’s entire approach to filmmaking.
Over the course of the year I’ve been watching all 93 titles in the Castle Rock Entertainment filmography and sharing my thoughts on them in this thread. Follow along as I take a nostalgic trip around the lighthouse.

Welp, starting Brock Bowers (who will now be permanently dead to me, from a fantasy perspective, for the next decade) over Kyle Pitts is likely going to be a season-ender for my fantasy team. Bummer.

More than that? The Raiders are terrible. Again.
