Midwesterner. Skeptical, particularly of "economic anxiety." Trying to stay open-minded but generally, they are who we thought they were. Michigan fan. Dems need to reckon w fact Trump won 48% of Latino voters.
Very disrespectful to Beck.

Alright, as one of my bugaboos is "all the economic data looks pretty good! We're on our way" and I'd like to see non-aggregated evidence that this is the case (e.g., big company is hiring 5,000 people) and see how things are going in non-AI, crypto, super-rich space, I'll track here.
How the YouTube algo gets ya: I watch a Power Station video bc of a post on Bksy. YT says, "How about this?"

I love the way Robert Palmer strolls out, stylish & cool, like he's going to award an Oscar. Casually picks up the mic & boom! Starts singing, perfectly.

This is so sad.

Every time I see one of those "Liberals are buying more guns" etc articles, I think of how it is far more likely that a gun in your home will be either used on yourself or a family member as opposed to an intruder, let alone on the US government.

Any Dem that comes in without a plan for court reform will effectively be a lame duck on day 1, who will spend 4 years giving orders to agencies that the Supreme Court tears up and reverses with the help of burrowed right wing bureaucrats.

Who on SNL or any of the late-night shows could pull this off today? And if they had the person, would the show let them?

I could see Michael Che making a joke about it during Update. But a whole sketch or song?

With the Colbert situation that they're interfering w his interviews, the inaction of the 60 Minutes crew gets worse by the day.

Quitting to "spend more time w your family" isn't much of a plan.
Better than nothing, but not by a lot.

The 60 Minutes crew should have already left & started (via Kickstarter, lib billionaire, whatever) a "weekly report" show. Build the media environment you want to see.

Instead, looks like they'll just melt away to their penthouses.

*Way* too many people at CBS, especially at 60 Minutes, are just frozen in place. I know it's a rough media economic environment, but taking the work into your own hands (in a big way) is necessary. Scott Pelley, Lesley Stahl, Anderson Cooper etc are failing the moment.

Billy Steinberg died -- a guy whose songs everyone over the age of 40 knows very well (Like a Virgin; Alone; Eternal Flame; True Colors; I Touch Myself).

I love top-notch songwriters. They make magic out of the familiar (and Tom Kelly had a great falsetto!).

OK, the "heterodox" pushback (e.g., see Noah Rothman today) that the Epstein saga is not a big deal / witch hunt / moral panic is generally pretty darn clueless. The US has underplayed it, if anything.

...but that said, this is moral panic stuff by Dearborn Schools.

It's useful to focus on one issue - say climate or LGBT rights - and analyze closely how a Dem admin handled it versus how a GOP admin did.

If you have red lines, great... if you're still doing "Dems are moderate Rs" or "uniparty" talk when the gulf between the parties is this vast, you're stupid.
You are one member of a larger coalition. That coalition has a process through which it decides who will lead it. “If you don’t decide to support my guy, I will leave the coalition” is behavior that will destroy the coalition, weaken yourself, and ultimately lead to worse outcomes than participating
Hey maybe the dems should learn a lesson and not run "moderate" Dems who are actually just republicans

Mitch Albom may do great charity work, and I understand why the @freep.com would let their shell of a newspaper still run his once-a-week column (a world-famous author -- you keep those around), but his sometimes reactionary, out of touch nonsense, can be ridiculous.

Not enough people on the skyline commenting on what a piece of shit Alice Marie Johnson has turned out to be.

One of the most corrupt things about Trump (and it's a high bar) is his pardons. And she willfully joins his team as a 'pardon czar'?

I'm all for pardons and second chances. But it's a hell of a juxtaposition to pardon millionaire NFL players convicted of drug distribution while you're summarily executing impoverished fishermen making a few hundred bucks to shuttle drugs around the Caribbean.

Two years ago the Pistons were 8-46 at the break, after losing 28 straight games and 35 out of 36 games.
