I took my kid to see Home Alone in a theater over winter break and there were kids in the audience complaining that they couldn't play on their iphones. While watching Home Alone! On a big screen!

Recently rewatch the beheading scene from the 1970 Cromwell movie, and man they got it right casting Alec Guinness as Charles I.

At long last, we have created Solaris, the Tyrant Sun from Grant Morrison's classic comic seres "Don't Create Solaris, the Tyrant Sun."
Oh my gd.

Musk is fucking insane with this quoted sentence from the press release on SpaceX acquiring xAI.

"This marks not just the next chapter, but the next book in SpaceX and xAI's mission: scaling to make a sentient sun to understand the Universe."

Applies to all kinds of advocacy, but my theory of change as a safe street advocate: The city says it can only do 10 miles of protected bike lanes per year. You say, "What? Other cities have put in 50 miles in the same amount of time?" Then the city says, "Fine. We'll do 20 miles." That's a win!

This is the Philadelphia App and Dan *was* Philadelphia. Nobody else captured the weirdness (solemn to silly) of this region and its culture with such affection and respect. Everyone wear your stupidest Wildwood boardwalk tee in his honor. Be good, buddy.

One of the things about Sauron is that he gave a bunch of rings to dwarves and elves and it didn’t turn them into big ghost monster wraiths like it did with guys so he kind of just gave them presents and was like “ah shit, I thought it would do the thing, dang”

A town like Haddonfield, only a couple of miles wide, no school busses, and a PATCO station, would be greatly improved by 1-2 protected bike lanes and heavy adoption of e-bikes.

At some point we need answers as to why, three days later, we still have no school while most other districts in the area are up and running.
Cabin fever sets in for Philly parents snowed in: ‘Are we just supposed to pull another parent out of our butts?’
While streets are being plowed and trash pickup is resuming, parenting while digging out of a snowstorm isn't easy.

The better approach that criminalizing e-bikes might have been "protected bike lanes to all middle/high schools that don't have busses"
This e-bike regulation is so frustrating because NJ is almost perfectly situated to take huge advantage of e-bikes to improve mobility.

Densest state in the US, but without comprehensive metro systems.

How N.J. ended up having some of the most restrictive e-bike regulations in the country

Yes there's some snow on the ground but not so much that a storm on Sunday means no school Wednesday.
I've never loved anything as much as the School District of Philadelphia loves closing schools.

Upzone Essex/Hudson/Bergen/Union and maybe we can add another 500k before the census.

TCM will become the “ongoing home” of the LOONEY TUNES library.

A six-year licensing deal for more than 750 shorts starts in Feb.

I am dealing with that RIGHT NOW.
Protip for anyone who lives somewhere where it doesn't snow much who's had a heat pump installed in the years since they last saw significant snowfall
Have them scrape all that snow off the minisplit before it starts to thaw! You can spend 30 seconds now or an hour scraping off ice in a few days!
