This idea that #metoo was a temporary piece of insanity that happened because America was too woke...

Fuck you. It was a temporary moment in time when people decided, for the first time, that 20 women were finally equal to one man.

Live-action remakes of animated movies might be the most creatively bankrupt Hollywood trend of my lifetime. Nothing worthwhile about them.

Counterpoint: no it isn't.
He IS the frontrunner and he does have a very good chance of being nominated. No matter how much that pains us it's the reality.
He's tall, thin, attractive, & a quintessential political animal (two-faced & opportunistic)
I hope he's not a shoe-in but he is in the lead rn

Another one bites the dust - this time Paste Magazine.
I wrote a TV piece for them years ago, when the great Matt Brennan was editor.
I honestly don't know what's left of cultural criticism.
Today, Paste Magazine shuttered all its non-music verticals, a choice I am both professionally and personally heartbroken about. Sadly, I am once again looking for a place that wants to let me write about Books and TV on the regular, so hit me up if that’s you or anyone you know.

If you are not in academia, you might not know this, but job interviews used to be held at conferences IN HOTEL ROOMS. Women candidates in a hotel room alone with often all-male committees. People sitting on beds! The horror stories I've heard.
I thing I sometimes thing about is that university departments were still doing job interviews in hotel rooms in the mid aughts

My god the replies here are an abomination!

Denzel? Cate Blanchett?
And how can you hate Jack Black?
What actor are you so (rationally or not) repulsed by that their work, no matter how good, is unwatchable to you?

It's become abundantly clear that the wealthy are incapable of happiness, which makes the fact that so much of our society is structured around trying to make them happy particularly obscene.

Forcing AI on to employees is the norm for companies nowadays. Employees can't speak out against it directly, because doing so would negatively impact their performance review or perceived cultural fit, when layoffs in tech are also common.
