THEY PEPPER SPRAYED A BABY

THEY PEPPER SPRAYED A BABY

Please read this entire excellent piece by Caroline, which points out that a judge ordered the Feds (again) to stop doing **this exact kind of thing** and they are still continuing to do it all over Chicago
Arianna Sofia Veraza and her parents were driving to Sam's Club for milk, eggs and diapers yesterday when they heard helicopters and horns blaring yesterday. They had turned around to leave when a federal agent pepper-sprayed them through a car window.

People going "America was always fascist" or "it's been like this since the 1980s" or making related claims don't seem to realize it, but they're telling everyone that nothing different is happening, nothing worse than usual, so if you weren't up in arms about eg 2013, you shouldn't be now either.

Next time an exec gives you the “too on the nose” note, just send them the lyrics to The Life of a Showgirl and tell them that’s no longer a thing.

Imagine going to a funeral and the eulogizer spends his time screaming about all the people hated by the man who just died.

These people have literally gone off the deep end if they think this is how decent human beings behave.

1. Do not obey in advance. Most of the power of authoritarianism is freely given. In times like these, individuals think ahead about what a more repressive government will want, and then offer themselves without being asked. A citizen who adapts in this way is teaching power what it can do.
Twenty Lessons on Fighting Tyranny from the Twentieth Century
Americans are no wiser than the Europeans who saw democracy yield to fascism, Nazism or communism. Our one advantage is that we might learn from their experience. Now is a good time to do so. From acr...

Luckily, Sinclair has a helpful database of all their stations, so you can see if they're operating in your area and respond accordingly.

I came to the US as a Soviet refugee at age 4, fleeing an authoritarian system. As an adult, I spent years working in post-Soviet republics. I’ve seen what happens when government agencies become weapons of coercion.

And I can tell you, we’ve passed the point of no return.

From Wired a few weeks ago. A lot of the people who I was told for years were the adults in the room are being asked how they want to be remembered, and that answer is very clearly "cowards."
