Chair of the Southwark Liberal Democrats / Campaigner in Herne Hill and Dulwich 🔶
Welcome, Tina! Across the country, we're seeing so many people disillusioned with Labour as they abandoned their values. So glad to see them finding a new home with the Liberal Democrats. 🧡
A big Liberal Democrat welcome to Councillor Tina Valcarcel, who has joined the Liberal Democrats from the Labour Party.

Tina who has represented Stockwell East since 2006 and served as Mayor of Lambeth in 2011/12, said she could no longer support Labour.

Fantastic result! Congrats to Sam and the team at Bromsgrove! Another result showing that across the country it's the the Lib Dems taking the fight to Reform, and the only party that's winning against them! 🔶

These changes were a mistake. Thank you to @joshbabarinde.bsky.social, @pruebray.bsky.social, @libdemwomen.bsky.social, @pluslibdems.bsky.social and everyone else who raised the alarm. We must do everything we can to support our trans and non-binary colleagues.

Whilst the Conservatives are wandering around Dulwich for a stunt, will they knock on some doors to aologise for proposing to deport hundreds of thousands of people?
October 30, 2025 at 6:57 PM
Also his cap says West Dulwich which is miles away...
In other news, Kevin Hollinrake, the Tory party chair, is in Dulwich. Sadly for him – I know the area fairly well – he's currently a good 30-minute walk from Rachel Reeves' family home.

So fantastic to see @robjetten.bsky.social and our sister party @d66.nl leading the polls in the Netherlands this evening! Incredible result and it shows that progressive, liberal parties can beat the populist right. Gefeliciteerd!

Thank you Vicki and all of our Lib Dem MPs who voted against this cruel proposal from Reform UK. The Lib Dems' unwavering commitment to human rights and civil liberties was one of the main reasons I joined the party, and I'm proud that we continue to lead the defence of the ECHR.
We’ve just defeated Nigel Farage’s attempt to tear up people’s rights by taking the UK out of the ECHR.

The Liberal Democrats will always defend the freedoms and liberal values that define our country.

If racism has no place in his party, then Nigel Farage should prove it by withdrawing the whip from Sarah Pochin immediately.

That Reform could win a majority (even a bare one) on just 27% of the vote shows that how broken our voting system is. It's intolerable that Labour still refuse to introduce proportional representation, and it could now be their downfall. 🥀
My Seat Projection [usual 'it's just one poll' caveat]:

It's my last BBC Radio 3 Sound of Cinema tomorrow, and I will be saying a proper goodbye. So tomorrow's show is an argument for the intellectual depth and richness of the film music, and how it should never be treated like wallpaper. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

Thanks for highlighting this issue, @maxwilkinson.bsky.social. It's not just bike theft though, it's phone snatching, parcel theft and a whole host of other crimes that are effectively decriminalised in London, and it's unacceptable.
🚲 Bike theft has effectively been decriminalised.

The British Transport Police have said that bike thefts outside London railway stations will not be investigated if they have been locked for more than two hours!

People who have come to the United Kingdom legally, played by the rules and made it their home do not need to “go home”. This is their home.

I've written to Kemi Badenoch to give her the chance to reject these divisive calls from her frontbencher Katie Lam.

So much for "We will fight you with everything we have". Labour's absolute failure to call out and challenge racism and intolerance from Reform UK and the Tories is a stain on the party, and one that Starmer clearly feels comfortable with. Just shameful.
Senior Labour figures have expressed dismay at the Party's "cowardly" and "incompetent" response to Tory shadow minister Katie Lam calling for legal migrants to "go home".

"What’s the point of us saying we’re anti-racist when we fail to call out racism," said one MP.

Fab night for the Lib Dems, winning 7 of these 10 seats, with gains from Labour, the Conservatives and the Greens.

As the Labour and Conservative vote share collapses, we're proving that only the Lib Dems are able to take on and beat Reform.

Congrats to all teams and candidates involved! 🔶🔶🔶

Great to have such a strong team from @southwarklibdems.bsky.social at London Lib Dem Conference today, and proud to be hosting it here in Southwark.

We're here to raise awareness of Labour's unfair funding cuts to local government in London, and the urgent need for more investment in policing.

@maxwilkinson.bsky.social and @victoria-collins.bsky.social are doing a brilliant job at leading the fight against digital ID cards. Forcing 13 year olds to have digital ID is just weird and shows exactly why concerns about mission creep are valid.
Labour suggestions that 13 year old children should have to have a digital ID card is simply wrong.

Home Affairs Spokesperson @MaxWilkinson.bsky.social sets out why Lib Dems will continue to oppose mandatory digital ID.

Abandoning the ECHR. Abandoning the Climate Change Act. The Tories are simply Diet Reform at this point.
Kemi Badenoch has chosen the side of Vladimir Putin and Nigel Farage with her plan to leave the European Convention on Human Rights.

The ECHR is a proud British creation, championed by Churchill, that protects everyone's rights and freedoms.

Labour cannot have it both ways. Starmer talks about compassion in the asylum system, and within days splits up the families of those granted asylum. This on top of forcing doctors and nurses coming here from abroad to do community work to prove that they contribute to this country. Just shameful.

I hope @torstenbell.bsky.social will immediately apologise for this. Yes, politics is about taking on your opponents, but comments about people's appearance and size should be out of bounds. Really disappointing to hear this from a Labour minister. 🥀
