Great article 👇 We have stink pipes in Dulwich Village, on Gallery Rd and there are some in Herne Hill too. Ours are probably from the sewers that culverted tributaries of the River Effra.

This will be fascinating. Joan Alleyn, nee Woodward, is an under-researched figure in early modern theatre. Woodwarde Rd in Dulwich is named for her (not sure why it has an E at the end). #LocalHistory
