After recently visiting SAMEE, a Dorset charity supporting disabled young adults into self-employment, I raised their work and the barriers preventing employment in Parliament.
I’m grateful that the Minister has agreed to meet with me to discuss the charity and their cause.

Great to visit the Access Wellbeing Poole Hub, which is celebrating two years since opening. I met their fantastic team last week and saw first-hand the real difference they make, helping residents access the right support; from mental health help to guidance on finances, work and housing.

This is a betrayal of traditional and one-nation Conservatives as the Tory leader chases the title of the nasty party at their expense.
Most people are moderate & want to see a society where people are not left behind & public services actually work.

One of the stories of British politics over last 15 years has been Conservatives and Labour valuing narrower and narrower ideological coherence over their historic, broad coalitions and then being astonished that their vote shares keep falling.

Secured a Parliamentary debate on improving safeguarding by reforms to the Disclosure & Barring System (DBS), with a commitment from the Minister to meet Joined Mental Health and wellbeing professionals to mark the second birthday of Access Wellbeing Hub at Poole Dolphin Centre to learn more about their work Held my regular advice surgery in Wareham Library, assisting local residents Raised concerns on behalf of British-Iranian constituents, pressing Ministers on consular support and proscribing the IRGC Met with local charity for older people and carers, PramaLife, to discuss the development of a clear dementia pathway for residents in Dorset Raised the ongoing crisis in Gaza, focusing on the impact of the NGO ban and the lack of shelter for vulnerable people Visited Pamphill dairy and met the owners – fifth generation famers. We discussed the impact of Government policy for the rural economy Spoke in the Animal Welfare Strategy Debate, raising concerns about vet costs, farming practices, fish welfare, wildlife crime, and stronger animal protections Met with NFU Dorset in Wimborne to discuss food security, the future of Dorset farming, concerns around inheritance tax, and including farming in the school curriculum Called out President Trump’s actions in Greenland and sought assurances from the Foreign Secretary about the UK’s overseas territories Attended the ‘campaign for Gigi’ event in Parliament, supporting improved welfare in nurseries following the death of toddler Genevieve Meehan Welcomed the Warm Homes Plan but questioned the Secretary of State about the capacity of the grid to allow the rooftop revolution for solar power Met the Royal College of Midwives to discuss their Safe Staffing = Safe Care and flagged my ongoing concern about the lack of NHS antenatal classes and limited access to ongoing support for new parents Spoke in a debate on ADHD healthcare, raising particular concern about the trend towards withdrawing shared care for ADHD medication, as well as support for other vulnerable groups like those with eating disorders and gender dysphoria Met with the APPG for Cancer Care to discuss their priorities in advance of World Cancer Day and the publication of the National Cancer Strategy Joined Holiday Park owners from Wareham and Lytchett, alongside Park Home Site Owners from Corfe Mullen and Merley, at their conference discussing issues relevant to their businesses Visited the Royal Armoured Corps in Bovington to learn more about their key role in the Armed Forces, meeting trainee tank commanders and hearing about developments with Ajax and Boxer vehicles Enjoyed an evening with Wimborne Methodist Church supporting Christian Aid’s campaign, raising funds for refugees in the Democratic Republic of Congo Joined Space Youth Group for their family session in Wareham to discuss allyship and the current political challenges around LGBTQ+ issues Attended the Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch Holocaust Memorial Day event at Poole Lighthouse, with a focus on reflecting on the past and working with young people to learn the lessons from the experiences of the Holocaust Held my regular meeting with the leaders of Dorset and BCP Councils to discuss how I can help support them in Parliament and to raise issues flagged by constituents

Dorset is the second worst-funded police force in England: 42nd out of 43.
Because of this lack of Government funding, local council tax now covers an above-average share of Dorset Police’s budget, putting further strain on already stretched local councils.
I pressed the Home Secretary on this.

I’ve joined over 100 MPs calling on the Government to finally do the right thing for WASPI women. Women born in the 1950s were harmed by pension changes made without proper notice. Despite the Ombudsman’s findings, ministers are still delaying fair compensation.
I will keep pushing for justice.
Dear Secretary of State, Re: Compensating women affected by the Government’s communication of State Pension age changes. We are writing following the out-of-court settlement reached between WASPI and the Government on 2 December 2025, and your commitment to undertake a full review of all the evidence relating to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO)’s investigation within 12 weeks. We welcome your acceptance that the Government’s initial decision not to compensate 1950sborn women was flawed, and the new opportunity which has arisen to reconsider the case for compensation and restore public confidence in the independent bodies that exist to hold the executive to account. Women born in the 1950s have suffered a clear injustice, as detailed in the PHSO’s thorough and comprehensive report which took six years to produce. The investigation concluded those affected were denied the opportunity to make alternative arrangements for their retirement and still suffer the consequences today. As you know, the PHSO found maladministration in the way the DWP failed to act on its own research which showed that significant numbers of 1950s-born women did not know about forthcoming increases to their State Pension age. The DWP has yet to explain why this occurred. The Government was right to carefully reconsider its position on the Winter Fuel Payment, Personal Independence Payments, and most recently, inheritance tax relief on agricultural properties. We hope the coming weeks will allow you to reach the right decision for 1950sborn women. Great to join the Royal College of Midwives in Parliament and hear from these invaluable frontline staff. Midwives provide vital care, yet Dorset faces a real shortage of antenatal support.
I’ve raised this with the Health Secretary and will keep pushing for better funding and provision.

The Government talks about an “ambitious” plan to cut junk food consumption among children, yet rejected an amendment backed by Jamie Oliver’s team to let councils act.

What steps is the Health Secretary taking to reduce the consumption of junk food by children. As set out in the 10-Year Health Plan for England, we are taking decisive action on the obesity crisis, easing the strain on our National Health Service and creating the healthiest generation of children ever. As part of this, the Government has announced an ambitious programme aimed at improving the healthiness of the food environment. In December 2024, the Government published the revised National Planning Policy Framework for local government. As part of this, local authorities were given the stronger, clearer powers they have told us they need to block new fast-food outlets near schools. On 1 October 2025, we implemented restrictions on volume price promotions for less healthy food and drinks, such as three for two offers, in stores and their online equivalents and United Kingdom-wide restrictions on the advertising of less healthy food and drink on television and online came into force on 5 January 2026. We have also consulted on banning the sale of high-caffeine energy drinks to children under 16 years old and announced changes to the Soft Drinks Industry Levy in the Autumn Budget to deliver greater health benefits to children. We announced in the 10-Year Health Plan that, in a world-first, we will introduce mandatory healthier food sales reporting for large food businesses and set new targets to increase the healthiness of sales. We will also strengthen the existing advertising and promotions restrictions by consulting on applying an updated definition of ‘less healthy food and drink’.

It's great to see children's use of social media finally discussed by politicians — it's long overdue. Here's my statement on the issue.
On Tuesday, the House of Commons debated social media age restrictions. I attended, though I was not selected to speak. Yesterday, the House of Lords voted to ban social media for under-16s. The Government has said it will run a consultation on the issue. Whilst this presents an opportunity for children, parents and experts to share their views, this process takes time. I want to be clear about my position. Like many parents and campaigners, I support a ban on social media for under-16s. Too many children have been exposed to horrific content online. It is clear that social media platforms are not putting children’s health and wellbeing first.

It was a privilege to attend the Campaign for Gigi event, set up in memory of Genevieve Meehan, whose preventable death in nursery care should never have happened. The campaign calls for stronger protections, including compulsory CCTV, so no family has to endure this again.
