How is it possible that Kristi Noem still has this job. Imagine if you’re a family member or a shipmate of this guardsman.

Unfortunately by not giving into the demands of a rightwing lunatic the Coast Guard pilot had forfeited his status as one of The Troops and therefore the media establishment will engage in zero outrage over this.
His alleged mistress left her precious heated blanket on the other plane, so Corey Lewandowski demanded the pilot turn the plane around to go get it.

When he refused, Lewandowski -- who has zero authority to fire anyone at any time -- tried to fire the pilot IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FLIGHT.
it's even worse than first reported

the fucking guy caused an inflight disruption so bad the pilot had to leave the command deck then he was like I RELIEVE U OF DUTY

Worth noting that several of these people named Newsom and Pritzker as being the kind of candidate they want.

“Progressive candidate” means something very different to the average person than it does to the typical Bluesky user.

the "moderate middle" of swing voters was never really that, either. anybody who's doorknocked could tell you that the average swing tends to hold a grab-bag of contradictory beliefs, ranging from moderate to extreme -- idealized "moderates" exist in numbers only amongst the beltway pundits

A victory for the man baby brigade here. And you can be certain it’s exactly the same doses who love whinging about how only men have to go to war actively making the military less welcoming to anyone who isn’t man.

They’re probably not even going to wait for denaturalization to hit in the legal end, they’re gonna just dump random indigenous people and Latinos in random countries to fend for themselves or die in various US partnered super jails

The distinction matters because it’s a signal of how far the want to take things. If they can get away with murdering an American infant along racial lines, what will next week bring? Next year?

This infant is an American citizen so they just fine murdering American babies. That’s where we’re at now

What we have seen in Britain is that capitulating in theory only makes the issues even more salient, because trans people do not simply vanish from public society.

Is a trans woman a woman? I think so, others disagree, but whatever you think trying to exclude trans women from, for example, women's washrooms NECESSARILY REQUIRES invasive measures to enforce, like security guards monitoring the women's washroom. That's tyrannical, no matter what gender you are.

There are, as far as I can tell, approximately zero Democrats who are actively trying to campaign on this, they are just declining to help create a gender panopticon and do a witch hunt against woke doctors. Matty doesn't know anything about this, so he assumes that nobody else does either.

The goal here, presumably, is reducing the salience of trans issues, but what everybody except Matty et al understands is that creating permanent screening structures for gender nonconformity and arbitrary medical restrictions which would impact everybody WOULD NOT ACTUALLY DO THAT.

Yglesias has, for many years now, simply refused to accept that these are not reforms being pushed by the Left, they are massive, ongoing intrusions into the private sphere by the Right which liberals oppose because they are, practically speaking, unworkable and incoherent to actually implement.
Like this. "You must strategically abandon the specific issues that the right has rendered toxic & focus on others."

But then ... why wouldn't the right just be able to do the same thing on those other issues?

Another thing to add to the Dem platform: all of these contracts were plainly procured through fraud, not one of them will be honored, and all culpable parties will be prosecuted.

This isn't a "radical" demand, it's the bare minimum required to re-establish the rule of law.
The current person in charge of ICE's procurement for detention is a GEO Group executive who ran the company's immigration detention portfolio. He was granted an "ethics waiver" from DHS allowing him to hand out contracts to GEO in his new role.

i don’t think dems will have the numbers they need to actually dismantle DHS or even just ICE after the midterms, *but* they can spend two years tearing into what’s likely to be a megaton of malfeasance and fraud at DHS and line it all up for a dem AG
corrupt, but also staggeringly incompetent and catastrophically understaffed when it comes to planning and administrative capacity
One of my firm beliefs about ICE's $79B budget is that the organization is so corrupt it'll grift and graft it's way through that pile of dough so fast it'll make heads spin.
