It is fucking wild that a rag's rag like Bleeding Cool, which will write about ANYTHING, has not made a fucking peep about the actually developing actual story that DC Comics has not paid a writer for ONE WHOLE YEAR'S WORTH OF COMICS
You gotta remember they punished me and have withheld payment for an entire twelve-issue run while other artists were allowed to publicly post drawings of DC characters joking about Kirk's death or killing ICE agents because I'm an underclass and it makes bosses insane when I shit talk my betters.

The New 52 was an opportunity that superhero comics and its fandom had to learn some essential lessons: creators and their freedom matters more than lore or "character integrity". Continuity keeps out far more people than it appeals to.

Unless you're working on a reprint, you should know exactly what changes make sense and are necessary/feasible at *every stage*.

HEY PUBLISHERS: pay attention to this entire thread; and recognize that a HUGE part of the problem is assigning comics projects to editors with no comics knowledge or experience. Editing comics is a discrete discipline, and when you don't recognize that, you fuck both creators and yourself over.
I've had to explain that no, I cannot pencil and ink a 260-page GN in two months, do you even understand the words you're saying to me? I've been asked to design characters, pencil, ink, and color a 200-page GN myself in eight months (I said no).
