Third read of #sbcf 2025: Self-Preservation Instinct by Nushanchel. Maybe a romance, or maybe just a story about solidarity among outsiders. The art here is a real standout: wisping between cartoony fantasy and abstraction. I love how space is warped and twisted on certain pages

Second read of #sbcf 2025: Cell Division by SJ Miller. Dare I say, this is cute? Really charming, if gross, visuals and a goofy sense of humor. I love the aggressive colour banding used as a stylistic element. It works surprisingly well with all the meat and viscera

This is a review of Red Hood #1 by Gretchen Felker-Martin, Jeff Spokes and Becca Carey. I think DC Comics was unfair and misguided to cancel this series, but I hope that at the very least, thoughtful analysis of the work can honour the creativity and labour of Felker-Martin and her collaborators
