A wise and thoughtful thread. The suffering of the victims of ICE and the current regime in the US is all too real. We should all learn from history, but Trump seeks to copy the worst of it.

Ian Austin, an Army veteran, was arrested for protesting ICE in Minneapolis. But he’s continued protesting. Senior reporter @julialurie.bsky.social spoke to him.

“When they say, ‘Why would you be out here?’ How the fuck could I not be out here?” he says. “My nation is under attack."

There's a new series of The Comedy Bureau starting tomorrow. I'm really excited about it. Obviously, like most things I've ever made, it's got a hearty "meh" from the world, but I think it's good. Subscribe on your pod player if taking comedy too seriously interests you.

ICE denied Renee Nicole Good medical care as she died after they shot her. When a physician on site asked to help, they drew guns on him. A witness said it was about 15 minutes before an ambulance arrived.

They wanted to make sure she died.

will also add - yes, this is my personal crusade - that turning podcasts into videos implicitly asks women to once again make more effort than men, as the bar for "camera-ready" for one gender is obviously higher than for the other

Sir Terry Pratchett is best understood as one of the most interesting, deeply ethical practical (I would say Pragmatist but I cede to actual experts) philosophers of the late 20th Century who just happened to work in deconstructed fantasy literature as his medium.

A dropped knife has no handle. Jump away. Let it fall. You can pick it up and wash it.

That intense, reflexive self-blame trauma survivors experience whenever anything in our vicinity goes wrong is not about having a "guilty conscience"-- it's a PTSD symptom. But framing it as a "guilty conscience" sign is a gaslighting tool abusers & bullies just love to pull out.
