The pain scale is entirely subjective and varies day to day. Anyone in chronic pain can tell you that.
I live at what is a 4-5 on the pain scale. The only time I felt I've been at a 10 is post-surgical blood clots in my lungs. Yes, that includes childbirth, broken bones, brain, and spine surgery.
