"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

HAKEEM JEFFRIES: We have waged a battle on behalf of the American people.

CNN: But you didn't get what you want.

JEFFRIES: At the end of the day, the fight lives on.

I used to post what I was listening to regularly on the bird app, but stopped when I stopped working in an office. Setting up this thread as a place to post music that I like occasionally. The masenqo at the start of the song is worth it on its own. youtu.be/7Nqt4vRQBFg?...

I used to post music I was listening to every so often but now that I don't work in an office I listen to music a lot less. Still like to keep up on it.

This is what happens when you don't regulate prices for the things that people have no choice but to buy.

Also, would like to note on clothing and furniture prices: The prices may be level, but the products are *so* much worse.
Pretty much all affordability discourse could benefit from just posting this chart.

If you're in the better off America, all the luxury goods you want in excess are for the most part much cheaper. If you're in the poorer America, most of the shit you need to live/grow is more expensive.

They’re wearing masks so they can’t be prosecuted later. As long as they think they can’t be prosecuted, their crimes will intensify. They will torture, starve and kill, as they have already, on greater and greater scale.

Signed, someone who’s covered the unaccountable War on Terror for 23 years.
I’ve come to believe that we need to gather considerable forces and a campaign to demand the removal of face masks by ICE, Border Patrol, FBI and police.

It is a practice in conflict with the principles of transparency & accountability that are central to the concept of democracy.

So many surreal stupid things have happened in US history in the past decade but one that's emblematic of our culture and is almost never mentioned is the COVID lockdown being announced following Sarah Palin's performance of "Baby Got Back" on The Masked Singer while dressed as a bear.

I'm joining the TV show discourse to say the only show anyone on the Left should watch is Rocky and Bullwinkle, specifically the Goof Gas arc.

basically every 2024 truism is dead. Trump did not build a lasting multiracial coalition or turn young men into committed Republicans. You don’t need to cave on trans rights to win. The pundits have nothing left to tell you.

Man, one thing I should have recognized earlier is that history academics are on the whole really stupid about politics. Glad I didn't go that route. Philips O'Brien hasn't lived in the US in decades, but still feels comfortable making broad pronouncements about the mood here.

Now that affordability is understood as a serious problem, I wonder what will happen to all those dickheads who said everyone was doing better than ever in the Biden economy?

Nobody talks about it, but this is actually the way Donald Trump is most like Adolf Hitler. It’s not his racism or his will to power or his disrespect of democracy.

It’s his ability to convince a large group of people he’s a character with magic powers.
This explanation is ridiculous yet likely true. Millions of people did not conceptualize Trump the way we do (e.g., "bad person who did a bad job and wants to do bad things like X, Y, Z") but rather as a TV character, an avatar of prosperity who would somehow bless them economically.
"... the best explanation for 2025 is that voters didn’t know what they were getting with Trump 2.0 last November, but now they do — and they don’t like it."

Today is an absolute rebuke of anti-transgender politics, and a real sign that the anti-trans panic is fading.

From VA Gov to Loudoun County to New Jersey to New York City and Pennsylvania, anti-trans Republicans are falling left and right.
Democrats are currently ahead in 63 (!!!) races in the Virginia House of Delegates.

If this holds, it would be one of the largest state legislature swings in the last 4 years.

Its an absolute bloodbath for anti-trans Republicans.
