Okay, my follower count and mix on here is now such that I need to say this:

If you know me in real life, no you don't.

If you saw me at a place I can routinely be found, no you didn't.

Thank you for understanding.
After two weeks of below-zero nights, it's finally starting to get to me.

I want to go OUTSIDE.

And have it be PLEASANT.

Okay, so, I thought of one, and then thought I would just go check collection and see what else was in there, and then I couldn't stop.

Found True Lies in a dvd bin. Orpheus reviewed it as "not bad" so I watched it.

Folks, it's so bad.

The female lead (no slag for the actor) goes from "sexy if she would only take off her glasses" to "Jar Jar Binx in a little black dress."

This transformation is achieved by traumatizing her.

About a month after adopting a chronically deficient local free shelf, it has finally achieved hat saturation, meaning they don't all disappear the same day they're dropped off.

So I've moved from crocheting hats to thrifting winter socks and cleaning them up.

abolishing ICE is not enough its members need to be prosecuted
ICE told nurses this Minneapolis man “purposefully ran headfirst into a brick wall.”

What actually happened is that they pulled him from a car, beat him so viciously with a steel baton that he had 8 skull fractures, 5 life-threatening brain hemorrhages, and couldn’t remember he had a daughter.

It's the warmest day of the week, but the car wash was still experiencing technical difficulties.

This borders on a Bad a Leftist Confession post, but until today, I had an Amazon Prime credit card. I needed the signup bonus cash to get some basics when I moved. So shoot me.

Anyway, I called to cancel it today and had a pretty funny conversation.

Migraine day! 🙃 Actually, this is day three, but today the meds aren't working as well.

I wonder how many people get their first migraine as adults. And of them, I wonder how many think they're dying. Because this is not a normal human body feeling.

News notifications lately have mostly just made me feel like I'm having a stroke, but this one is a more clear-eyed and sincere "What the fuck is happening?"

No idea how this will play out.

Guess we're gonna see.

Also, prepare for the news to be nothing but this for a while.

Dreamed that a friend had negative feedback about one of my hacker books because there "wasn't enough detail about the architecture in it" and that was all they were interested in right now.

Woke up and solomnly made a note to sprinkle in more Boston building detail for the new edition.

There's too much "sad that immigrants did this" in the comments, so I would like to participate in putting a stop to that: if you actually read the article, it says both of these men are from Texas.
BREAKING: The two federal immigration agents who fired on Minneapolis protester Alex Pretti are identified in government records as Border Patrol agent Jesus Ochoa and Customs and Border Protection officer Raymundo Gutierrez.

In the south side of Minneapolis, community members have started setting up filter blockades- which are make shift roundabouts. The intent is to slow down the erratic ICE driving behavior among other things. Full report to come on @statuscoupnews.bsky.social

Makes me wonder if organizers have read Pratchett's Night Watch.

Also, if you have winter clothes and a chair, that's all you need to participate.
These blockades are a beautiful experiment in improvised community defense. They are easy to start with just a couple friends, and whatever you have lying around.

Let's make the Twin Cities impassible to ICE and all supporting forces.

The defense in this article is "but a few people crossed the imaginary line in front of the ICE facility!"

That is not a good reason to tear gas hundreds of people, including kids.
Anti-ICE protest draws massive crowd at South Portland facility, feds deploy tear gas
Thousands of demonstrators marched on the ICE building, leading federal officers to launch pepper balls and tear gas at them.

My primary participation in the General Strike was to not shop today.

But I've spent the last year deleting accounts with tech monopolies, unsubscribing from all streaming services, and removing my books from Amazon, so.

Participation enough. Long-haul participation.
