Every story about him is either “Bezos spends $8 billion on the world’s largest known truffle” or “journalists unsuccessfully beg Bezos for $50 to buy pencils and notepads”
Washpost foreign correspondents plead with Bezos to keep the overseas bureaus alive.

Perhaps one should not discuss breaking laws on a 100% public social media website that we know the federal government is aware of and monitoring.

It’s hard to strike when you know that people will die because of it, and I understand that. But also, a general nursing strike would put America on its knees, begging for its mommy.
I am seeing quite a few nurses calling for a nationwide strike over the killing of Alex Pretti. I think we are seeing one of the largest workforces being radicalized before our very eyes.

As a someone with a 33 year NIH-funded lab whose grant is supposed to be reviewed this week, shut NIH down if that is what's needed to end ICE terrorism. Innocent lives are more important 🧪
The Senate may choose to vote together on the DHS and LHHS bills. Thus, a filibuster on DHS may mean no funding for NIH. What my colleagues are saying:

“Shut it down, public health will understand. I’ll work without pay again.”

The idea that America needs to occupy Greenland because we actually care enough about native people and want to build oncology centers is enough to make your head fully explode
Waltz: "Denmark has ignored Greenland from a defense standpoint and they have ignored the Greenlandic native iniut people ... if you get a cancer diagnosis in Greenland right now, it's darn near a death sentence. Denmark has not invested in the way it should've over the years."

I find this language really gross. First off, it's weak as hell. But second, if your demand is simply that ICE leaves Minnesota, that's just telling them to go to another state to terrorize people.

These centrist squishes need to push for full abolition of ICE.
Our message is clear: ICE needs to get out of Minnesota.

We all burned to death in 2020 and the feds have sent ICE to kidnap our ghosts.
(In the course of lamenting the declining ranks of Minneapolis police, the chief casually referred to the “destruction of the city in 2020”)

The fact that every right winger with influence screams "who is paying for all of this" tells you exactly how awash in cash they all are, and how much they rely on that to keep their movement afloat.
James O'Keefe says he's never seen anything so organized as the anti-ICE movement, observers--he seems to think this term is code--everywhere he goes. Who is paying for it??? he demands to know. It's like he can't even imagine people caring for one another.

Absolutely right. There have been protests, but the vast majority of people’s activity here in MN is better described by one of Ian’s terms. ⬇️
And that work is vast, ongoing, every day, by a truly amazing amount of people.
Protests happen, but most of what is happening in Minneapolis isn’t protesting.

More accurate terms:
- observers
- witnesses
- volunteers
- neighbors
- residents
- people
One thing that irks me: people keep calling the folks on the streets in Minneapolis protestors. They are not generally there to protest, they are there to observe and document. This is the product of organizing and mutual aid. It is telling that these acts of citizenship are seen as protest!

My buddy's 15 year DnD group is imploding because a couple of the long time players are defending the ICE murders and everyone else is appalled. This is a red line for normal people in a "get the fuck out and never talk to me again" way. The evil and injustice is instantly recognizable.

People already working hard to prove how perfect Alex Pretti was. To show he didn't "deserve" to be killed. But it's a trap folks. You're only feeding into a dynamic where people who are considered lesser get no protection. You don't have to be an Alex Pretti to deserve to live.
