The executive order that this president wants to rename the Department of Defense to the Department of War
...is going from bad to worse.
Why isn't there a Department of Peace...
Why not have people who's expertise in Conflict can be explored and to reject the actual mindset that supports war.

Hey, where are the "pro-life" and "limited government" folks? Isn't this a post-birth abortion by government?
ICE has now carried out two summary executions of innocent people in the streets of an American city.

If you work for ICE, there's no denying that's the mission you're supporting now. You don't get to claim in one year or ten or twenty that you didn't know what ICE was doing. You're complicit.

Remember back during the Biden days when the MAGA's were very concerned about federal censorship? Now, they've fallen oddly quiet over this egregious and blantant violation of the First Amendment.

Ever wondered what a very bad case of Trump Appreciation Syndrome looks like?

"America First" went the way of Trump University.
The admin that campaigned on America First is consistently putting Americans last.

It has money for military operations, but not healthcare. It prioritizes the interests of foreign govts over its own. It's entirely okay teargasing, assaulting, and killing American citizens.

"Gleis... fünf... Einfahrt... I-C-E..."
Oh wait, that sign is not referring to the Deutsche Bahn, it's referring to the MAGA Abschiebe-Gestapo. Abschiebung ("pushing off/away") is the German word for deportation.
Good reminder from this state highway!

Trump's attack on the ICC is an assault on international law and also why we need more non-US-based digital service providers.
The sanctions apparatus is the real deep state.
(To be clear, this time I'm talking about the International Criminal Court, not the International Code Council.)
The penalties effectively cut the judges off from all American funds, goods and credit cards, and prohibit individuals and business in the U.S. from working with them. “We’re treated like pariahs, we are on a list with terrorists and drug dealers,” Ms. Ibáñez said. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/10/w...

I am angry seeing justification for the increase in militarization due to the actions of the US empire.

Make no mistake, the US is an aggressive imperialist nation, but as socialists, we should never agitate or ingratiate war and conflict.

The working class doesn’t benefit from more destruction.

Not a surprise to anyone who doesn't have Trump Appreciation Syndrome.

Bombing another country and kidnapping its leader would also be wrong with Congressional approval. The outrage, and call for impeachment, should be over the evil and illegal outcome not merely the failure to follow the prescribed process.

Short answer: many members of Congress have a severe case of Trump Appreciation Syndrome and/or make money off the military-industrial complex and Big Oil. (The latter is a great reason why politicians should have to dress like racing drivers.)
That one person can drag us into a war without consulting or even notifying Congress, or our allies, or fully explaining to the American people why this is necessary, is absolutely bonkers.

Reminder that Congress has the power to stop all of this. Where the hell are they?

The US government's insatiable appetite for power goes well beyond its borders. This is a great reason why there need to be more non-US cloud service providers.

Also, OFAC (and the rest of the sanctions apparatus) is just way too powerful. Where's the "limited government" crowd?
The outrageous sanctioning of EU lawmakers and citizens in order to pressure democratically-elected European governments to change their laws shows just how intent the US government is on controlling Europeans' lives.

We must go into 2026 with eyes open.
The US can destroy a European's life with the swipe of a pen
This week's US sanctions against European lawmakers and privacy activists is a major escalation. And it shows the dangers of Europe relying on American economic infrastructure.

The list of reasons why extreme localism is awful just keeps on growing.
If you think local governments should control land use, explain why it’s good to let Los Angeles (which has thousands of homeless people) block the conversion of this parking lot into affordable housing.
‘Dead’ to City Hall, but funded by the state: The high-stakes fight over a Los Angeles affordable housing project
State housing officials could limit Los Angeles' access to funds and strip it of some zoning authority over its efforts to block low-income housing in Venice.

This movement is pseudoscience, plain and simple.
(And why doesn't MAHA ever care about fossil fuel emissions? Because many right-wingers are addicted to fossil fuels - what other "excuse" do they have for endless, polluting wars?)

What does this have anything to do with "defending freedom"? Isn't trying to ban something the opposite of freedom?
(Oh right, "Alliance Defending Freedom" should be named "Alliance Defending Theocracy".)
NEW: Louisiana and lawyer Erin Hawley of ADF just asked a federal judge to IMMEDIATELY end telemedicine prescriptions of the abortion drug mifepristone while their lawsuit against the FDA proceeds. They cite Fifth Circuit opinion and the Comstock Act of 1873

BREAKING: Donald Trump goes on a deranged rant claiming countries want him to serve as the leader of Europe.

This level of delusion is not normal.

So the GOP magically likes nationwide injunctions again?
NEW (but deja vu): Texas and Florida are suing the FDA over its approval and regulation of the abortion drug mifepristone. The states are asking Judge Reed O'Connor to declare the 25yo approval unlawful and yank mife from the market—but judges can't do that

Sanctions against the "International Code Council"? That would be great- oh wait, wrong ICC.
Yet again, the US government wants to propel itself as far above the law as it can.
⭕️ Trump is threatening new sanctions against the ICC unless the court agrees not to prosecute Trump or other US officials in the future.

Specifically, the US wants the ICC to amend its founding treaty, the Rome Statute, to exempt US officials. The move requires the support of 2/3 of ICC member...

This is just awful and another example of blatant hypocrisy (this administration has complained about "censorship" in other countries, but look what it did to Rümeysa Öztürk).

Does this mean that people who criticize the "International Code Council" might risk refusal of entry and/or incarceration?
