A revolution is not a dinner party, or writing an essay, or painting a picture, or doing embroidery; it cannot be so refined, so leisurely and gentle, so temperate, kind, courteous, restrained and magnanimous. A revolution is an insurrection, an act of violence by which one class overthrows another.

Andrew Jackson made reins out of human skin and committed genocide. Thomas Jefferson was also a child rapist. Jefferson, Washington, Madison, Monroe, and Jackson (among others) thought owning humans was cool. Richard Nixon and George W. Bush both have seven figures worth of deaths on their heads.

KUOW hosts a weekly show where they invite conservative columnists to tell people what we should be thinking about the news. Always appreciate when they include a token progressive to provide slight pushback on Radke’s Suburban Handwringing power hour.

Liberals believe in identity reductionism, not identity politics; the latter is part and parcel for nearly every stripe of politics in this country, and the other is just a hollow attempt to use marginalized communities as a cudgel to silence dissent.

Trump is truly awful, but he still hasn’t quite cemented certain crown for “worst president”
There have been 45 Presidents. 44 of them would be working on their resignation speech tonight.

This is part of a long pattern; when the Aryan Nations disbanded after the Butler judgment, the ones who didn’t leave the north Idaho/EWA area just found the job where they could live out the race-hate violence - law enforcement.
You rarely hear about white nationalist hate groups. Why is that? Most of them have become ICE GOONS.

my family went from refugee camps and old world slums to living in houses on actual land in the course of about 40 years
The standard of living jump from my grandmother (yeoman farming family, well off esp in the Depression) to my mother (baby boom) is legitimately just insane
It is genuinely hard for most people to grasp how poor the past was.

liberals haven’t learned to use new toys since 2016 - much like their preferred candidates.

Keep fighting for the oligarchy, I’m sure they’ll help your family when the medical bills are crushing.
The Berniebros still don't get it. And I have yet to have a single Berniebro answer my questions about Bernie and Russiagate, Bernie's past with Communist dictators, and Bernie's Marxist economics BS.

If you think about it, Hamilton was one of the most regressive moments in the intersection of politics and art. A single play sought to transmute the shame Liberals had for this country’s history into a nationalism falsely informed by new racial mythologies.

In this essay, I will—

@dansavage.bsky.social came out swinging hard in favor of the Iraq War and eventually wrote a weak non-apology, so it’s not quite fair to say there was *no* accountability.
Maybe the biggest part of Cheney’s legacy is that after running a nightmarish and highly illegal torture program and killing a million people in Iraq just so oil companies could get their hands on nationalized oil there was zero accountability.

The pundits, news outlets, elected officials who…

We were so, so close to having the first woman of color commit war crimes on behalf of American corporate interests.

Makes you wonder what might have been.

Someone just unsubscribed from my newsletter w/ the comment, "Matthew, you've got too much politics mixed in with autism"

Sorry that autistic people are targeted & under threat and bringing this to your attention.

SeattleU’s criminal justice program had an incestuous relationship with SPD.

It provides:
-Annual survey/MCPP/Before the Badge (Helfgott)
-Most of the data/analytics staff
-The current OPA director
-RTCC staff
-Several officers
This "public safety survey" is not an objective process whatsoever. The woman who operates the survey is paid by the Seattle PD to do it (Seattle Times omits this), is a media surrogate identified by SPD and is actively quoted as desiring to boost legitimacy and trust in police.

People who say this really want those annoying minorities to stop complaining so much. They’re the white moderates Dr. King warned about, and no different from the liberals who kneeled for Hitler in the 30s.
Cool story. Sorry, people not being able to compete in sports is simply not on the scale of consideration when others in our tent are literally losing their freedom and their livelihoods.

You can pretend all you want that rational disagreement is "throwing you under the bus", but it's bullshit.

The party that actively worked to destroy the Black Panther party should try to emulate the Black Panther party
The Democratic Party would do well to look to the social programs of the Black Panther Party as inspiration if SNAP disappears on Saturday. Just running party-sponsored food drives and regular party-sponsored spaghetti dinners in some major cities would be both helpful and good PR.
