Since NY is going into a mayoral election and Andrew Cuomo & his friends are still hanging around, I’m pinning this explainer of how Cuomo fucked the House for 2025
A big reason Dems don't control the House right now—and this murderous spending bill is possible—is Andrew Cuomo, who fucked New York's congressional redistricting as governor and helped lose us seats in Congress.

Friendly reminder that dishwashers made after 1995 or so are so water and energy efficient that even if you ran them twice fully loaded it would still use less water than handwashing the same load.

So many "green" things feel like sacrifices. Dishwashers are not one of them.

Go ahead and root for Oates taking down Musk but please remember she said some fucked up shit about autistic people, among other things.

Like her work.
Like her trolling.
Don't fall into that fan spiral. That way lies disappointment.

This blows my mind every time I run across it. We understood perfectly well how to teach people to read, it worked effectively for decades, and then we just decided ... not to do that any more. I think the best analogue is the history of treating scurvy.

ever since I learned about three-cueing I've developed infinitely more patience for replies on social media. mfers literally do not know how to read. people are walking around conjuring random meanings into words they don't know, and they don't know a lot of words. it's crazy

It was a major mistake that the Senate didn’t hold high-profile hearings and investigations into the corrupt Roberts Court when ProPublica was breaking the scandals.

Now that same corrupt Court is blowing up NIH, NSF, and all of US basic science.

Our failure to pick a big fight with the Court 1/
look at what this leadership did with oversight powers of SCOTUS in the middle of multiple devastating scandals for the conservatives. look at the half assed impeachments and half-assed oversight during the teens.

This means Rick Scott does not believe there should be any of what the ACA calls "essential health benefits" — things an insurance company *has* to cover

blacksky.community/profile/did:...
Says all plans would have to cover pre-existing conditions. But if states set the rules, some might choose not to require coverage for thinks like pregnancy, or prescription drugs some people need to survive, and so on…(as it was pre-ACA)

Rick Scott was CEO of a large, for-profit healthcare company called HCA. While Rick Scott was CEO, HCA stole so much money from Medicare they were fined $1.7 Billion.
Rick Scott told me his plan would be to take all of the remaining ACA subsidies and redistribute them to HSA accounts and people can then buy whatever insurance a state certifies. Basically a repeal/replace.
He denied when I asked wouldn’t that create two-tiered system where sick pay much more…
