i don’t see how any of the benefits of chatgpt and other consumer-facing LLMs can possibly outweigh their incredible ability to induce suicides
Adam Raine’s life hurtled toward tragedy soon after he began talking with ChatGPT about homework. Analysis of his ChatGPT account shows how the chatbot became a confidant as he planned to end his life.

Jon Stewart has been problematic on disability for a long time. He's on the board of Next for Autism (an ABA-focused charity) and has not listened when autistic people have tried to educate him about the harms of ABA or get him to learn from autistic lived experiences. So this is not a surprise.
Dear Jon Stewart c/o @weeklyshowpodcast.bsky.social
I recently watched, with great surprise and disappointment, a weeklyshowpodcast segment in which you and other "personalities," gleefully mocked and derided the relatively small subset of individuals who continue to wear a face mask in public.

Flex posts protect cars, not cyclists. Or pedestrians.
Quarterly @mcdotnow.bsky.social check: now a downed flex post and two downed pedestrian signs on Blair Mill Road at Eastern Drive.

Fix: these measures having been ineffective, close the road to vehicles.

The other piece — beyond neural tube disorders — is folic acid plays a role in lowering cardiovascular disease risks, and reduces stroke risks in people with high blood pressure. So this is also targeting brown adults as well as brown babies.

It’s racism sll the way down.

Yay, folic acid!
Kennedy says adding folic acid to tortillas is “waging war” against poor residents. Folic acid has long been added to cereal and bread and the CDC website currently says it’s safe for those with the mutation mentioned in the thread Kennedy is replying to.

"People are fleeing your city because of bad public policy" is a real problem....but "slight tax increases on the wealthiest" is not remotely a major factor.
It's annoying to see the hand-wringing over a small number of wealthy people making empty threats to move because of tax increases, when there are actually people leaving desirable places en masse because they can't find affordable places to live
