Scrolled through 300+ pictures of the Met Gala and I don’t know — I expected there would be more capes involved.

“Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl)” makes me irrationally angry.
Fuck your favourite song. Tell me your least favourite song. The one that makes you die inside the moment you hear the first 3 seconds.

I made myself sick all weekend about a contentious meeting today, and it turned out okay! Curse those brain weasels.

I don't want to be on ghastly x anymore but it's where a lot of my sales come from so this post is a brazen request for shares to spread the word about my work on a kinder platform that isn't run by a dangerous megalomaniac!

While President Trump illegally pauses federal funding from Congress, the Senate must not be business as usual.

We do not consent to this lawless power grab.

NEW: My staff has confirmed reports that Medicaid portals are down in all 50 states following last night's federal funding freeze. This is a blatant attempt to rip away health care from millions of Americans overnight and will get people killed.

While I wouldn’t say that protesting is the most effective form of praxis, I think it has a power posting doesn’t, which is effective demonstration of reach. You post and well — your friends saw it. You march, and everyone on 6th Ave saw it. And you saw them see it.
God love them, but since I joined the marches in 2017 and 2020 I’ve concluded that unless marches are the occasion for rather than the object of organizing, they’re basically posting that let’s you get your steps in.
The People’s March is moving through the streets of Washington: “We won’t go back!”

A broad coalition of activists — among them climate, women’s rights, immigration, anti-war, LGBT, D.C. statehood, racial justice — are mobilizing in unison against Trump, three days before his inauguration. 🧵

I’ve tidied up the old year (by which I mean I put away the Xmas stuff), and I’m ready for the new. Hope everyone has a great new year coming to them!

A thousand times yes.
This is what's so baffling about so many suggestions for AI in the humanities classroom: they mistake the product for the point. Writing outlines and essays is important not because you need to make outlines and essays but because that's how you learn to think with/through complex ideas.
I'm sure many have said this before but I'm reading a student-facing document about how students might use AI in the classroom (if allowed) and one of the recs is: use AI to make an outline of your reading! But ISN'T MAKING THE OUTLINE how one actually learns?

#1447: “My stepmom just voted my rights away and I’m mad at my dad about it.”
My brain feels like a test pattern right now, so I do not promise you either eloquence or coherence. Fortunately this is a well-covered topic and the archives are robust.

Apropos of nothing, I’ve recently decided to cut back on news and read more. I’ve just started in on Daphne DuMaurier and have read Rebecca, My Cousin Rachel, and Jamaica Inn. What should I read next?
