When I was 10 we went to New Orleans coincidentally when they were opening the D-Day Museum and we ate dinner at a restaurant and my dad was convinced that a guy at a table across the room was Steven Spielberg

We sat at that table waaaaay after finishing because dad thought Tom Hanks might show up
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

It's actually crazy that there's a sustainable, high-protein, high-fiber crop capable of feeding the whole world and the only downside is that if you spill them in a movie theater a black teenager will laugh at you

Saw some posts about MTG breaking with Trump like "she's positioning herself for her next move, you rubes don't realize how this fits into her scheme" and idk maybe, but can we take a sec to recognize that seeing the scary secret motives behind a thing with many plausible explanations is, well,

Enabled by UAE: “Between 30,000 and 100,000 people may have been killed in six weeks, with 60,000 as a plausible midpoint. That pace of killing would be unrivaled since the Rwanda genocide of 1994…the death toll in El Fasher in less than two months may be comparable to that in Gaza over two years.”

even for environmental impacts why is it focused on water over electricity

they actually do use a bunch of fucking electricity, that's a real thing and yet people choose to complain about the fake thing

there have been multiple stories of middle school girls getting harassed with generated CP of themselves over the past few years and somehow the only AI fear that seems to stick is the fucking water

if i was more conspiratorial i'd think it's a psyop
It’s the most powerful online sexual harassment tool ever invented and it’s driving people insane with parasocial relationships but the most prominent critics lie about water use.
"And I never say no"

We need to have a serious talk about the way "AI companion" apps not only prey on the vulnerable, but are priming their users to ignore consent and to conflate love with control.

We need AI regulations across so many sectors, but this area is particularly horrifying.

It would be reasonable to think that hybrids add complexity over ICE cars and there are probably versions where that's true, but the mainline Toyota hybrids are built in a way that not only simplifies things but reduces strain on most of the mechanical components and extends their life
also there's still a belief that you're setting yourself up for an expensive battery replacement despite the fact that first-gen Priuses are like the longest lasting cars in history

I actually think we can bring this back if we bully hard enough
The social taboo against appearing in ads as a major celebrity is gone and not coming back because even the little guys do ads lol

yeah I bust out laughing at fn4
Also, Justice Kavanaugh sounds like he really, really wants a second try at his decision authorizing Kavanaugh Stops.

He's now insisting that immigration enforcement should not be like EXACTLY WHAT IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT IS LIKE UNDER TRUMP'S THUGGERY.

The MiLB tech story has not gotten nearly the attention it needs. It's a terrible development across the board and I'm glad to see this kind of reporting being done on it
MLB's tech regulation plans give itself full control over who can do business with baseball.
And I learned an AI scouting firm — founded by the uncle of an exec in Rob Manfred’s inner circle — may win a bid.
Team sources and antitrust experts told me it creates a conflict of interest.

NEW from me:
MLB Teams Fear League Will Pick Winners and Losers in Tech
The league is taking control of the choosing of tech partners, rather than leaving it up to teams; one firm under consideration was founded by a top MLB exec’s uncle.

It's progress, but it's unfortunate that there's only so much judges can do here—state bars need to start cracking down. Citing hallucinated cases is lying to the court, plain and simple, and should be cause for disbarment
Lawgeeks, this one is worth a read. Judge goes beyond the usual monetary sanctions into serious correction territory.
An attorney couldn't stop using Grok (?!) to help draft filings, producing "a flood of tainted filings" & apparently triggering the implosion of a law firm & 3 lawyers' careers 🤖😵 The court called her misconduct "particularly egregious & prolific"

nah fuck it I'll strong-form this argument: who's to say microplastics aren't neuroprotective
It's obviously not good that we all have a spoon's worth of microplastics in our brain, but also, I do wonder why having a spoon's worth of microplastics in our brains is actually bad

I've put a lot of thought into this, and I've concluded that the most semantically dense two-word phrase in the english language was born when whoever first called havana syndrome "lanyard morgellons"
So did Havana Syndrome get sorted out?
