Search-by-image really comes in handy when you're experiencing new parent brainlessness and you both know the thing you're holding isn't called a clothespin but clothespin is the only word either of you can think of, and you can just ask google "wtf is this thing in my hand" (it was a safety pin)

i guess whatever ends up happening i very much appreciate the way that so much of what comes out of this campaign offers a positive depiction of what politics can offer to a community instead of just grim attack stuff and fear

I have never understood this. GPT might be useful for taking thoughts I expressed in an email and putting them into a format that's tedious to prepare (a presentation or some bullshit). I cannot see how it would help me write the email actually containing my thoughts
So many people I know use it to write emails. It's not that hard to write an email

like we almost certainly do not sufficiently appreciate what a gift that site is. For all the grief teachers etc might give about not just trusting wikipedia, it's an absolutely incredible resource and that it has remained *so* free of major bias so long is downright miraculous, and probably doomed

I find the Grokopedia thing pretty alarming tbh not even because I think it will succeed in itself but because I do think there is now a very serious threat that we 'lose' wikipedia in some form which would be an absolute tragedy
