A reminder that people who engage with your art will always have criticism that reveals they never really understood (or tried to understand) your art.
I have a friend who said, of Starfleet Academy, that this took them out of it - that seeing a person in a wheelchair in the 32nd century seemed unrealistic, since medicine in Star Trek "should be able to cure whatever was wrong with them."

That's not the case, for any number of possible reasons.

The premise? A teen from Mexico—crossing into the US to escape violence and find her father—is captured and caged by ICE. But she has an unexpected ally, connected to her mind.

Listened to this on the way to school with my kids. They giggled at the CFMs and some of it went over their head (haha) but we all truly enjoyed it. Touching, thoughtful, genuine heartfelt reflections on life while in the clutches of space capitalism, and the narrator is great!
Do you have harsh language on your cognitive organ, sapient? Good news: part 2 of 3 of "What Any Dead Thing Wants" by @aimeeogdenwrites.com is now live, with plenty of it!

This was such an evocative, visual, sonorous read. Lovely all over and one of my favorite Stevie songs.
A climate fiction dystopia where the descendants of Mardi Gras krewes are holding together all that's left of the world with a little help from Stevie Wonder 🌀

Black resilience and community is my favorite thing to write about apparently. Loved this piece and I hope you do too ❤️
