I should probably have a pinned intro post, huh? Hi, I'm Gregiffer, I'm a queer Youtuber running the Pop Arena channel. I cover a lot of stuff, but my main project is Nick Knacks, a history of Nickelodeon that looks at every single show that ever aired on the channel.

there's a moment in PARADISE LOST where Satan arrives in Eden and realizes Hell isn't a place; it's a thing he carries within him and it'll follow him wherever he goes. and i think about that when i see these awful rich men whose monstrous wealth has enriched them not at all

This is why I will never, ever trust dynamic podcast ads unless I can handpick every single one.

And that’s why the Advent Calendar House is brought to you by 30- to 40-year-old cereal commercials.
Someone just told me that spotify is running ice ads before the @thezeldacast.bsky.social

Fuck that

community.spotify.com/t5/Other-Pod... fill this out if you hear that garbage on any of my podcasts.

What's something you thought was way older than it actually is? For example, growing up I assumed "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" was some old 19th century folk song standard and not a pop song from 1979.

The contrast of my parents loudly watching OKLAHOMA! in the living room while I watch Castration Movie in here sure is something.

People believe that when you're LGBTIQ+ you come out once, but the reality is that every time you meet a new person, you have to study them to decide if it's a safe space to say it or not

I've worked enough retail to know this is just about whipping obedience into employees and has little to do with the actual shopping experience. Only the Karens care if you're smiling.

Keep boycotting Target.
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more
As the holiday season fast approaches, Target is urging its employees to add a little more “jolly” to their work routine.

Over on my Forgotten Comic Strips account, the Jim Davis Mr. Potato Head comic that I feel is somehow more obscure than Gnorm Gnat.

Sometimes I boot up Google Street View and go to my late grandfather's house. Years ago, the cameras caught him working on his yard, facing away. Nearest thing to a ghost you can get, I imagine. It makes me wonder what echos we'll all leave behind. What I'll leave behind.

I think a lot about the story Carl Reiner told: he’d have been a sewing machine repairman if not for a free WPA drama class. That led to other theater work, to Sid Caesar, to Mel Brooks, and all the rest. All because of one free class paid for by a government that felt the arts were worth teaching.
you ever think about the works progress administration? I sure do. I wish that was a thing now. I would be so glad to contribute my labor to like. A random ass local bridge

Watching Celebrity Traitors, and there's a lot of UK pop culture that's passed me by, so I didn't know what Charlotte Church had been up to since her "look at how good this small child can sing" commercials in the late 90s. Seems like she's a really cool druid now? Neat! Love those snake tats!

The article makes mention of a Gremlins cartoon on Max that started in 2023, and it probably says something about Gremlins' viability as a franchise that this is the first I'm hearing about it.

Anyway, no Dante, no sale.
