Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

In 1854, after watching the federal government deploy 2000 federal troops and spend $40,000 sending Anthony Burns back into slavery, Boston's Amos Adams Lawrence said “we went to bed one night old-fashioned, conservative, Compromise Union Whigs and waked up stark mad Abolitionists.”
Yesterday morning kids were sent running from their bus stop in panic because ICE showed up. This guy at today’s ICE Out of Lindenwold protest is a must watch 😭. @maddow.bsky.social

Great story, thread...
1804. Oceans are now Battlefields.

In the South China Sea a British convoy worth almost £1bn today is spotted by the French.

It should be a massacre.

Instead, Commodore Nathanial Dance is about to defeat a French battle squadron using some paint and the most overplayed hand in #navalHistory. /1 🧵

To be very clear, that lady in the NYT article is not making any money with her hundreds of AI slop books.

She makes money by *convincing people* she makes money that way and getting them to pay her to teach them how to do it.

It's an evolved MLM, and the NYT is helping market it.

Great thread—opener is just setting up a contrast for more important point. The AI obsession is what it looks like when the ‘elite’ are actually committed to something (unlike diversity).
An observation I've been thinking about:

Around 2020, we were told that US political & corporate elites had been gripped by "wokeness" & thus become obsessed with climate change & diversity. This wokeness was alleged to be so severe & monomaniacal that it threatened the entire culture & economy.

The funny thing about a certain type of angry conspiracy guy is that they’re literally being confronted with an elite paedophile ring and a tyrannical government at the same time right now, and because it isn't being done by the people they wanted it to be done by they’re all being pussies about it

Extremely powerful interview. It also adds important context of what happened just before and just after Alex Pretti's murder. This person is a hero.
Exclusive: ‘Pink coat lady’ who recorded fatal encounter between federal officers and Alex Pretti speaks to Anderson Cooper | CNN
Anderson speaks with Stella Carlson, the witness who captured crucial video showing exactly what happened when Alex Pretti was shot and killed by DHS officers.

The killing of Alex Pretti and the grotesque lying was an overreach by the administration. They've paid a price and had to pull back a bit. But it's when there's some disarray that the democratic opposition needs to intensify the offensive, and turn a marginal tactical success into a major victory.

Yes, the GOP controls Congress. That's why it's key to show Congress COULD stop the madness. And it's not just the DHS bill. Congress could repeal the prior multi-year $75b for DHS; set up a special investigative committee (cf. Watergate); amend the Insurrection Act; etc.

Abolish ICE, abolish DHS, redistribute the other agencies, prosecute actual criminals, such as people who commit execution-style murders of Americans in broad daylight.

We don't need a yet deeper analysis of the videos documenting Alex Pretti's horrible murder by ICE thugs. We need accountability. Congress must act to cut off DHS funds and hold lawless perpetrators and principals both to account.

Call your Senators (when this ice storm passes for many of us).

I really need Democratic lawmakers to understand that we're fed up with them simply posting on social media "this has to stop" without calling for specific actions to make it stop.

We know this needs to stop. We elected you. Tell us what needs to be done to make it stop.

Even that generations-long repair won’t happen without some kind of public reckoning, including hearings, prosecutions, de-nazification, & reforms. Otherwise, as others have noted, the next GOP candidate can simply blame any leader elected to fix the problems of not doing so fast enough.
One of the things I keep thinking about is how it won’t just be the job of the next president to rebuild everything broken, but the one after that, and the one after that.

Whole generations will be living through the aftermath of this bullshit.
