I think that framing says a lot about how they conceived this illegal and unprovoked attack--and how dangerously naive and foolish they are, what little thought they've given to the consequences, how comfortably they are with using U.S. troops for a whim, as though they were toy soldiers.

--as though this were some kind of hostile corporate takeover of a struggling company, where the measure of success is making the occupied entity more efficient and profitable (again, for whom?), and not an occupation of an independent and sovereign nation.

And the story there must be one matched at many other levels, in most other executive departments (esp. DoD, State, HHS, etc.).

...and the level of rot and corruption now endemic there is detailed here with horrid clarity. The article is helpful for bringing a range of similar stories of corruption together, rather than the steady drip we're used to.
