The destruction of American public health and its replacement with pseudoscience continues.
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has overhauled a panel that helps the federal government set priorities for autism research and social services, installing several members who have said that vaccines can cause autism despite decades of research that has failed to establish such a link.

I'm begging the media to state this clearly -- we are all in danger now because of the deliberate choices made by Trump's administration and RFK Jr in particular.

When the next major outbreak of a preventable disease strikes, they'll point the finger at other people. But it'll be their disaster.
We had eradicated this disease.

And now because of targeted disinformation, children, immunocompromised people, elderly folks, and so many others become victims in this proxy war and we have a new avoidable pandemic.
Holy moly this chart: Cumulative US measles cases

So, if I'm following all this correctly, a bunch of internet shitposters who spent years screaming "don't tread on me" and warning about federal agents stomping out people's rights... have been hired as ICE agents to go around breaking into people's homes, kidnapping & shooting them

Science as practiced in its best form is that if you disagree with it, you set up an experiment that would disprove it. If you can't do that, you shut your fucking mouth and learn something.

Now that everyone has beaten this up, maybe a more popular one.

If you are introducing someone at a conference, learn how to pronounce their name! Crazy how often people stumble over the guests they're introducing. It's disrespectful!
Thought from a week of conferences: If someone uses uptalk or says “like” and “you know” I can’t take them seriously. You can train yourself to speak more confidently and you owe it to the audience.

I suspect you're not at the kind of conference I attend. If someone is speaking too confidently about their scientific research, I can't take them seriously. Expressing doubt about the validity of assumptions is the mark of a good scientist. But that's just like, my opinion, you know.

It’s crazy that America just like. Destroyed science. Just looked at its golden goose and went “wow should we kill this? And not for the gold, but just because we fucking hate this thing”

And if you tell random people about it they go “no, that doesn’t seem true” and just refuse to believe you
