i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

I was acting as a union member and concerned employee when I questioned Stan Duncan, well within my legal rights.
I don't love pointing to my identity, but the company saying that I was behaving "aggressively" when I was calmly asking questions feels like a clear transphobic dog whistle.

New: Conde Nast fired four employees who were among a group that confronted the company's head of human resources on Wednesday over the decision to fold Teen Vogue into Vogue/recent cuts. Employees who were fired included journalists from the New Yorker, Wired, and Bon Appétit.

Forgetting that is part of the reason why we’re in the position we’re in now. Our collective desire to exonerate the reputations of the dead, absolving them of all evils, keeps us in a constant state of fighting oppressive “traditions.” Which we all know is just peer pressure from the deceased!
There is an old stupid saying of “bury the bad with the dead” but of you were cruel and awful in life we shouldn’t forget that
