This is sad news. I owe a lot to Gerry Gable and his work, and I'm glad he lived a long life. I subscribed to Searchlight from my teens into my 30s, and in return I received an invaluable education on fascism and its history. May his memory be a blessing.

I'd say they SHOULDN'T be "allowed to shoot people just because you didn't do what they said," but that's not the reality of how police shootings are handled in the overwhelming number of jurisdictions, red or blue, throughout America.
I don't know who needs to hear this, but cops are not allowed to shoot people just because you didn't do what they said.

That is called murder when they do that.

Some cops are working hard to convince people otherwise.

“Whats your favorite thing that was made by an absolute cunt?”

Not my favorite thing anymore (I haven’t looked at it since) but maybe a few months or so before he was outed, I’d saved up my money to buy a complete set since my old copies were worn down.

I’ve never regretted any purchase harder.

Not just Farage should be asked this question...
If you missed this question to Nigel Farage from The Critic's Rob Hutton – and it was over an hour into the press conference – then it was a particularly good one. The answer was... vague.

In the loft during the school holiday one summer, I stepped back onto what I thought was solid wood only to discover it was plasterboard.

I dangled from the ceiling beams by my scraped-raw armpits, yelling for help and waiting for my sister to stop crying with laughter so she could move the ladder.
What's the most ridiculous way you ever hurt yourself? I got out of the tub, skidded in water and tripped over the toilet. Ankle sprain.

😅

We've all come across that one American who thinks US law applies the world over, but how many of us ever imagined that same American getting a plum DoJ gig?

Dude is like the Ali Dia of lawyers (iyk, yk).

Reasonable to ask whether Americans just got played by Cubans and Venezuelans who will now stay in power in Caracas and who understood that after 24 or so hours of gringo euphoria this will be a disaster for the US.

Maybe it was just down to my reading of it, but I loved the needle drop at the end of OBAA.
Something must be done about the plague of needle drops. Marty Supreme and OBAA both nearly ruined by them, particularly in their endings

Something I used to say all the time in the other place, and on here too; build a big prison on an island, put all the tech-bros in the prison, nuke the island.
The end goal of Grok sexual harassment is to make women afraid to be visible. It’s a punishment for daring to exist in a way the perpetrators can’t control. There’s no one solution to this, because the problem isn’t just technological. It’s cultural. It’s misogyny. This is just one expression of it.

The banter-timeline twist would be if #LFC get battered by Arsenal on Wednesday, after which we sack Slot and...appoint Amorim. 😱

It seems obvious to me that Starmer has no imagination, no curiosity, no real ideas of his own and can be easily persuaded that bad ideas are in fact good ideas if the persuader is someone he trusts or has a relationship with.

There are few greater oxymorons in the English language than "conservative intellectual".
I’ve been reading about influential new “conservative intellectuals” or “post-liberals” for at least a decade now and every time it’s just racism with a different hat on. Whatever the spin, it’s always fundamentally the same idea

Describing Heat as a near-perfect movie is a very film-bro thing to say, but it is absolutely a hill I would die on if not for the scene where Hanna meets his CI at this bourgie LA club where everyone is dressed like yuppies and the DJ is playing...House Of Pain?!

Would. Never. Fucking. Happen.
#FilmSky, a quick question; what is the pettiest thing you have had to be annoyed at a film? I ask because I am watching The Gift from 2000, and the main character does divination with Zener Cards, which are not the same thing as Tarot at all. Why go for a more boring looking option?

Trump is posting a bunch of photos without captions, presumably of him watching the Maduro kidnapping.

Is this the inside of a SCIF at Mar-a-Lago or did they just toss up some pipe and drape?
