Big problem with the BBC is its sheer credulity and lack of intellectual curiosity about stuff. It feels like it has lost the will to interrogate (with rare exceptions)

This makes sense. Dragons aside, imperial phase GoT always felt closer to Shakespeare than Tolkien.
Game Of Thrones is getting a prequel play, The Mad King, set to world premiere from the Royal Shakespeare Company this summer.

The show, adapted by Duncan Macmillan and directed by Dominic Cooke, is set 10 years before the events of GOT.

Tried not to binge all of Small Prophets in one go, so have only just finished it and, god, it's perfect. Gently funny, quietly mystical, devastatingly melancholy. The creature effects exactly the right blend of nostalgic and eerie. Just pure magic all the way through.
