Two different groups requested to the council in Berlin to have marches. One was permitted, the other only allowed a rally, which the police ended early with arrests. The permitted march was for literal Nazis, the one closed down for an end to genocide. Germany is so fucked.

The sooner we recognize that the Democratic Party isn't going to save us from fascism, the sooner we can build a robust left that is truly an opposition to this nightmare.
NEW—After a day of uncertainty on where agents took Tufts student Rumeysa Ozturk, she appears to be in a Louisiana facility.
1400+ miles from Somerville, Massachusetts, where she was taken.
A judge ordered to not take her out of state without 48 hour notice. She was detained last night.

Yes, tariffs are a tax, but people don't mention often enough that they are a regressive tax. Taxes on consumer goods tax the poor at a higher rate, as basic necessities are a much larger part of their spending.
If food goes up by 20%, it is a tax on the poor. Rich people won't even notice.

So we’ve got two competing schools of what the Democratic Party should do next. One of them is hosting the largest political rallies in history in places like New Hampshire and Arizona, and the other one just got $120 million from Silicon Valley and is on a book tour.

there is a bizarre consensus among "liberal" intellectual and political elites that we must assume Republicans are acting in good faith despite decades of evidence to the contrary
Cool cool. @durbin.senate.gov, @amyklobuchar.com @klobuchar.senate.gov @whitehouse.senate.gov are looking to team up with MAGA to give Donald Trump the power to censor anything he wants on the Internet.
Do they not recognize what will happen?

The Onion summer writing fellowship is seeking applicants! It's six months, good salary and benefits.
This year's applicants do NOT have to complete the Eating Challenge, as it turns out this does not adhere to Illinois labor law. We apologize to those who have died in the past.

The DOJ is arguing, on behalf of the President, that the President can scoop up anyone, put them on an airplane, and then no laws apply because no court has jurisdiction.
Whether the person is a citizen wouldn't change that because there's no point they could even tell a court they're a citizen.

Wow. DOJ is arguing that the President has authority outside the Alien Enemies Act in international waters "that would not be subject to either orders."
Boasberg seems skeptical, asking if the president's foreign power exists only once the plane crosses into international airspace?

Really wish news outlets would stop referring to "the ceasefire". The defining feature of a ceasefire is that you cease firing, which Israel never did, so there never was one.
