Good to see some Labour MPs speaking out about today's announcement. I've already written to my own MP @matthewpennycookmp.bsky.social and hope he will join the ranks of those doing the right thing.

I find the UK Debate on ID cards somewhat weird.
As an Italian, I've had an ID card all my life. It's normal. And somehow, the UK has been implementing much more pervasive surveillance and control without an ID card system in place.
