It's not just war around the globe, but current-gen policing in America, and basic "how do we treat each other".
Best way I can put it is how Patrick Skinner (@SkinnerPm) who is a cop but ex-USCG+CIA puts it on Twitter: "All of us matter, or none of us do."

Another thing about the Boston Massacre is John Adams' famous defense was less about right to counsel, which wasn't in question, and more demonstrating British troops could and should face fair trials w/ local courts and juries. Thus the Declaration's grievance about when they stopped allowing that.
The thing about the Boston Massacre— the fruits of arbitrary power— was not that the colonists were universally in the right. Things were thrown at the soldiers. But, the presence of a standing army escalated conditions. The use of force that night was not proportional. Citizens died needlessly.

One of the takeaways of my current book is that the ability of the federal government to exert real power in domestic settings has always been largely overblown.
They don’t have the juice or manpower for it. This is not late 1930s Germany. There is no state monopoly on media. They are wildly unpopular.
The goal here is martial law. It’s martial law. Let’s be clear about that.
