I just spent a couple hours in the whistle inbox, inputting 39 requests. They ranged from 100 for a lady who wants to give them out at church to 3,000 for a large union. All over the country, but one common refrain: I want to help.

This is such an incredible way to support two marginalized communities at the same time: buying food from immigrant businesses who are threatened by ICE and then distributing it to unhoused people and others in need. 🌯
It’s been another busy week dealing with the ICE occupation in Minneapolis, but I wanted to give you a Burrito update!
We started this project just over 5 weeks ago, and since then we’ve provided over 1150 meals for people, and spent almost $12k at local, immigrant-owned restaurants!

People are moving literal millions of dollars through every possible stream- but commonly just from one checking account to another via a variety of personal money moving channels- to pay as many rents as possible at a scale I’ve not seen in my lifetime.

just an update from when we talked to the reporter: we’ve now successfully connected over 100 families for direct, peer to peer rent adoption. we’ve collected and immediately distributed…a lot.
it is a drop in the bucket, but all of this is. everyone is just doing what they can.
